The best existing ramen in KL was always at Jaya One (and still is) but the Sri Petaling branch was a 10 minutes walk from my place. It became a weekly (and sometimes multiple times a week) meal, a Friday ritual to mark the end of a particularly horrendous slog at work, a lazy weekend lunch, a mid-week treat. It became the pivot around which Sri Petaling started seeing some genuinely good food. .

I talked about it to everyone who would listen, and many who wouldn't. I wrote about it (blog link in bio). I met people because of it - case in point the food youtuber @jonathannght who has graciously invited us to an all-expenses paid trip to Tokyo. And more importantly, I ate at it. A lot. I had the massive chunky shoulder until that one was demised at the Sri P branch. I had the tsukemen - just launched about 2 or so months ago at Sri P. I had the bamboo shoots when available, which they rarely were. I had bowl after bowl of the black garlic Aka broth, which still blows away every other ramen in Klang Valley. .

I'll head over to Jaya One when I can but it's, well, far away. Menya ShiShiDo can no longer be a weekly affair. And now there's a gaping hole in the neighborhood that mediocre eateries will undoubtedly be rushing to fill up but they'll never be able to replace what we have lost on this day. Pour up for ShiShiDo. Now don't even think about leaving, Hanabi. .
