First of all, there will always be die-hard fans of either Piao Ji or Han Kee in this food centre. Both stalls serve equally fresh fish and boast equally long queues — so which is better? That remains debatable. At Piao Ji, come for the Sliced Fish Soup (starts at $7), where silky-smooth premium pomfret slices swim in a savoury broth boosted with fried shallot and pork lard. The soup is arguably more robust and perhaps better suited to pairing with noodles than its competitor. Non-CBD people, please come at off-peak hours if you don't want to wait for 30 minutes!
