Teck Chye Terrace houses an eclectic collection of eateries. There is the famous teochew porridge shop, Kings Laksa steamboat, 8 degrees Taiwanese food and the most recent addition, @kaiyosushigrill

We have been meaning to give Kaiyo a try since it opened shortly before the COVID-19 outbreak but only did so recently.

Their spicy salmon ikura mentai roll ($23) packs a fiery punch. Needless to say, Joo Eun loved it.

The signature Kaiyo Chirashi ($28) features an assortment of sliced sashimi such as salmon, akami, amberjack, scallop and amaebi. The sashimi is fresh and delicious.

The Iberican pork collar with yuzu miso ($22) was highly recommended online. I found the pork a little on the tough side. The yuzu miso was tasty but a little too salty for my liking.

In terms of quality, I think Kaiyo is comparable to Sushi Tei though I think Sushi Tei has the edge in terms of pricing. However, Kaiyo does take reservations so you can avoid a 30 to 45 minutes wait. We will be back to check out the rest of the menu!
