There's another chicken rice skirmish being fought in the Bukit Timah Food Centre theater of war, and the two opposing factions there are Fu Ji and Seng Heng, and these two have been squaring off since both started pushing out plates of gut gratifying chicken rice. But as we all know, the food centre ain't big enough for the two of 'em, and there can be only one.
Fu Ji's Hainanese steamed chicken is a textbook example of how to do white chicken right. Tender, juicy, succulent and free of any offensive tastes that are indicative of poorly cooked steamed chicken, it received its flavor from the moderately salty soy sauce that coated it.
As for the rice, it was more rich than flavorful, but it was still fluffy and accompanied the chicken rather well. But is it the best of the two? Well...
