Pick this over the wings if you don’t want to get your hands all oily - though I think the traditional me would still prefer to dig her hands into the har cheong gai in the usual wings form. 🤗

This store sells the crispiest har cheong gai I’ve ever had, though some parts were unfortunately quite dry and hard. The fermented shrimp paste was surprisingly light tasting and smelling, but still tasty and salty enough. I wish the wings and drumlets were a little more meaty though. The serving size is huge. There was so much rice and I couldn’t even finish it!

I’ve heard many raving reviews of this place so I’ve been looking forward to it, but I think I personally would stick to my traditional zichar places to get my fix of har cheong gai. It was good, crispy and fragrant, but not spectacular (I wonder if my expectations were too high from all the hype?).

We visited on a Friday evening and the hawker center wasn’t too crowded, so we easily managed to get a seat for two.
