Having seen the long queues for months and some raving reviews from my friends, I decided to give it a try with some prompting.

This outlet is located in Jewel, Changi Airport. We ordered the Charcoal Grilled Seabass with Lemongrass, Steam Pot Chicken Soup, Poached Seafood Rice in Prawn Broth and Stir Fried Green Dragon Vegetable/ Chives.

The overall taste was mediocre and did not quite meet my initial expectations, considering the popularity, reviews and price. The chicken soup tasted decent but is something that I can get at any other chinese restaurants. As for the poached seafood rice in prawn broth, out of the 4 of us, none of us could taste any bit of prawns, despite its orangey outlook. Moving on to the vegetable, the portion was small and was tough to chew. Lastly, the grilled seabass with lemon grass was underwhelming as it had almost no traces of lemon grass as we tasted it and was under grilled. Hence, the spices overtook the taste and it was not quite pleasant.

Overall, I would say that the balance of taste isn’t there and did not much up to traditional Yun Nan dishes. It might be a case of inconsistency, I don’t know but it’s not a place that I will return to, unless someone would like my company at the same place.
