I was really intrigued to check out Toi after reading about their western food with interesting sauces (hainanese chilli emulsion!) and sides (pumpkin mash!) out of an ulu industrial estate kopitiam in Marsiling.
They have since shifted to a kopitiam in Ang Mo Kio which made it much more accessible. Apparently, they have streamlined their menu but maintained their prices.
I don't usually order pork chop because it usually ends up a little tough and dry. Toi serves grilled pork belly, a dish which isn't your usual hawker western fare. They recommend it with their apple miso sauce which costs a little extra.
The grilled pork belly was moist and juicy. It was unfortunately a tad overcooked so the meat was a little on the tough side. I liked that the apple miso sauce was sweet, tangy and savoury which paired really well with flavourful pork belly. However, I would have preferred that it was served warm instead of chilled from the fridge.
Pricewise, its a little more expensive than your usual western food hawker stall but their portions are relatively bigger.
