Was here to try out the Collagen Broth Ramen, but it all seemed to have been replaced by this Shooting Star Ramen that is the monthly special of July. Coming with presumably the same Collagen broth as the ramen with the "Dinosaur Chicken", this comes with black garlic oil, minced chicken with squid ink, chicken chashu, chicken ball, onion, spring onion, bamboo shoots and Aji-Tama egg with gold leaves sprinkled atop. As gimmicky as it may have sounded on the menu, I quite liked whatever that went into the making of this bowl in the ramen. The Collagen broth reminds me of the same lip-smacking goodness that one would expect from Bijin Nabe (or also known as Beauty Pot), though the richness gets cut once the black garlic oil is mixed in with subtle smoky, garlicky flavours cutting through. Amongst all the elements, I liked the loosely-packed but very bouncy and tender chicken meatballs that's all made from scratch, as well as the Aji-tama egg that is incredibly soft for the white whilst encasing a semi-molten yolk in the middle that's all smooth. Would probably say that it's a place to consider if you are starving and Kohaku's queue is snaking.
