The set meal comes with a bowl of fish porridge (containing batang fish), together with youtiao and cabbage + black fungus cooked in Hainanese style. The cabbage was fairly decent but we felt that the youtiao was a bit too soggy. We preferred the crispy youtiao that other porridge stalls in Singapore serve.
Ah Chiang's porridge is of the thicker variety and it is actually pretty clumpy. However, there was not enough seasoning and the porridge was a little bland. Furthermore, the fish used had a pretty fishy taste too so we will not get the fish porridge again if we come back here in future.
With an egg in the porridge, the set meal costs $11, which is very expensive given that this is a casual diner serving porridge that wasn't too fantastic in our opinion.
