We dipped these once (only once, no double dipping as the sauce is shared) in the metal tin of special sauce, and savored the well-battered pieces that were fried to a crunchy crisp. Was it the batter or the sauce or the freshness of the ingredients? Oooiisshii!

By the way, we were massively impressed by the side dish, Doteyaki or Stewed tender Beef Tendon simmered in Miso-flavored Sauce with Konnyaku! Such a mixture of different textures on the tongue!
