1. Wagyu Beefcheek Pie ($11.90)
2. The Sunriser ($11.90)
Pies and Coffee is a cafe with outlets at rochester park, paya lebar, and a few other areas. We went to the one at rochester park and found that atmosphere to be really tranquil and peaceful. It has a small indoor air conditioned seating, as well as a large al fresco dining area with many comfy sofas, definitely a great place to just kick back and enjoy a relaxing brunch.
The Wagyu Beefcheek Pie was so-so. The pie crust itself was great, however, the inside of the pie was a tad dry. There was a generous amount of beef, but our only gripe was that the beef was quite fatty, which we didn't enjoy that much. Even thougu $11.90 for a pie might aounds pricey, the pie also came with salad and mashed potato, both of which were good, and made it a very filling meal.
The Sunriser was a gem - truffle mash with chicken sausage stuffed into a pastry cup, and topped with a perfect sunny side up with oozy yolk. The Sunriser truly lived up to its name, not only was the presentation beautiful, it also tasted delicious and made for the perfect meal to start the day with. Sadly, there were only two of them and we finished them in the blink of an eye. Would definitely come back for more.
Overall, while the Wagyu Beefcheek Pie was a slight disappointment, the Sunriser was a huge hit. The next time we come, we would probably try a different pie - they have many interesting types such as Guinness Beef Pie! Oh and do check out groupon for discount vouchers, they have some offers now and then!
