This is an East African spiced coconut bean stew that was super filling and extremely flavourful! Spices were quite strong (could be a little bit spicy for those with a lower spice tolerance) but its heat was softened with coconut cream, as well as the accompanying paneer and egg. It was really delicious and reminded me of a cross between curry and chilli con carne.

The large amount of beans made the dish very substantial, I couldn’t finish it on my own. You can choose to pay more to add smoked pork sausage and bacon to the dish too.

Overall - a pretty good pick if you’re feeling something spicy but want something a little bit different. Of course, if you like curry and chilli con carne, this is definitely something you should try!

The cafe was beautifully done up, you can tell a lot of thought has gone into each and every detail of its decor. I loved that the staff were also dressed in African-print clothes too. It’s great that they are quite serious about the whole African theme and are sticking to it. Though, it was a pity there was no African music playing in the background, that would’ve added the cherry on top.

We visited on a late Sunday morning and was lucky to get seats with no waiting time - we saw a little bit of a queue as we were leaving in the early afternoon. Best come a little earlier to avoid having to wait in the hot sun. Cafe is dog-friendly too with a few seats outside.
