Better known for their fruit-based teas as they use fresh fruits in them, HeyTea also came up with their version of the Brown Sugar Fresh Milk. Besides the usual ingredients, they added their own twist with the brûlée on the surface of the drink. I was interested to see how theirs would compare, and whether this additional effort would be justified.

Milk: 7.5/10. Meiji Fresh Milk, a quality choice that is a favourite amongst stores and drinkers alike. This particular type of milk has a high fat content, having the richness and creaminess that gives you that indulgent feeling while drinking it. The ice was also just enough to keep the drink cool with the warm brown sugar, while not diluting it

Pearls: 5.5/10. You can definitely taste that the pearls were cooked in brown sugar, but their texture was a little too soft for my liking. They were chewy, which might appeal to some others' liking.Their taste was on point, with a strong brown sugar taste from a strawful of just the pearls

Brown Sugar: 8/10. Uses the type of brown sugar I prefer, 黑糖, the brown sugar taste was further accentuated by the brûlée on the surface. I know you are recommended to drink them separately, but well I would give them the added advantage for their efforts. The brown sugar itself was well caramelised, and there was enough of it to last the entire drink, considering the fact that you could only stir and not shake the contents together

Overall: 7/10. The drink as a whole was relatively decent, but the pearls were just not for me. For someone with a differing preference for pearls, this drink might have scored higher with them. That said, you can see why this brand is still a fan favourite, with queues still existing for their drinks where the demand for some others have died down. Quality ingredients with good attention to detail make their drinks worth waiting for.
