It's been several years since I first sunk my teeth into that light, pillowy @richandgoodcakeshop Kaya Roll Cake ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฐ, and I clearly remember that rush of joy as the comforting creaminess of Kaya ๐Ÿƒ and Coconut๐ŸŒด๐Ÿฅฅ awakened my tastebuds.

Fast forward to 2020, where they have now expanded, and I finally got my hands on some of these old school roll cakes in a long while (mostly due to the OOS situation at their various outlets). ๐Ÿ˜…

Unfortunately, the Kaya roll wasn't outstandingly delicious as I remembered ๐Ÿ™Š, and definitely wasn't of the same standard from years ago when I once proudly proclaimed, "๐™๐™ž๐™˜๐™ & ๐™‚๐™ค๐™ค๐™™ ๐™†๐™–๐™ฎ๐™– ๐™๐™ค๐™ก๐™ก๐™จ ๐™–๐™ง๐™š ๐™ฉ๐™๐™š ๐˜ฝ๐™€๐™Ž๐™ ๐™„'๐™ซ๐™š ๐™š๐™ซ๐™š๐™ง ๐™๐™–๐™™!!!๐Ÿ˜" I mean, they were delicious. But they had somehow lost that signature light texture and comforting flavours that I had once fallen in love with...I suspect that the ratio of Kaya custard has decreased in recent years... Or was it my tastebuds that have changed? ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Surprisingly, I enjoyed the durian roll cake more this time, and even though the amount of durian pulp isn't exactly generous, it made a wonderful tea-time snack washed down with a cup of tea. ๐Ÿต Would I eat these cakes again? ๐™”๐™€๐™Ž!!!๐Ÿ˜‹ But I definitely wouldn't make my way down specially to queue for them... ๐Ÿ˜Ž
