Came here to try the iconic chicken rice.

Ordered the individual portion of chicken rice to share, it was good, rice cooked well and flavourful with stock, chicken was tad dry, however well marinated. The chicken slices (boneless) were on a bed of lettuce and few slices of cucumber. Chili was not too garlicky (which I preferred to avoid garlic breath) which was accompanied with ginger purée and dark soy sauce.

Also tried the char kway teow, rojak and oyster omelette.

The char kway teow had a good wok hei to it.

The rojak had variety of ingredients from the usual fruits and additional ones like jambu (water apple). The yu tiao (dough fritters pieces) were crispy and coated with sauce. Taste wise a tad sweet IMO.

Interesting rendition of oyster omelette which reminded me of the Japanese omu rice where the ingredients are encased within the egg omelette and the tangy chili sauce dosed on top of the omelette like a sauce. Would have been better if the chili sauce to be served on the side instead as the omelette and oysters were drowning in the sauce covering all taste with the sauce. Also, texture wise, it’s all soft and lumpy. Unlike the hawker version which has crispy bits.

Wasn’t expecting much from the coconut shake however was pleasantly surprised (after the shocked from the oyster omelette). Blended coconut ice cream with juice, bits of chin chow and chunky red bean brought highlight to simple ingredients. Yummy!

On the service side, it could have been better, as we have asked to change our seats not once but multiple times throughout our dining session as they were high stools and my pregnant girlfriend was 7 months pregnant was quite a big tummy hence the chair was uncomfortable and the table clearance barely touching her tummy. Not mentioning there were empty tables which was “reserved”. Disappointing with the lack of human touch.
