Guide Features of Good Food at Guo Fu Hotpot 国府珍锅 (Guoco Tower)

Lunch Buffet ($25.90)

Guo Fu Steamboat has been on my must try list for the longest time, and my gaaawwwddd it’s the perfect first post lockdown hotpot buffet. The lunch buffet is reasonable enough at $25.90++, and you get free flow EVERYTHING for two hours straight. Yes, even the xiao long baos. Of course, some things are far more worthy of your stomach’s real estate than others, and the special pork on the left & the premium beef on the right are undeniably worthy. Just look at the marbling, man. That’s decent quality right there.⠀

Look to Guo Fu for tasty, nourishing soup bases with fresh ingredients. No more fighting over the last piece of meat with the 1-for-1 Meat Lover's set. While waiting for your hotpot to bubble, get the Xiao Long Bao to share — two portions for the price of one!

For a feast, consider this casual chic steamboat restaurant in China Square Central. Smart enough for a business meal yet laid-back enough for gathering with friends, Guo Fu Steamboat one-ups the competition with free-flow xiao long baos! Priced at $23.90 for daily lunch, $25.90 for weekday dinners and $27.90 and weekend dinners, the steamboat buffet is perfect for large appetites, but bear in mind that the soup bases are charged separately (prices start from $3 for a personal portion, or from $9 for a split pot of two broths to share). That said, the quality and variety of the ingredients are commendable — expect the likes of sliced beef, pork and chicken alongside prawns, scallops and mussels.
Pro tip: The xiao long bao takes awhile to be ready, so order that first before you start piling your table with food.

Serving freshly made xiao long baos that can rival dim sum restaurants alongside a wide array of steamboat offerings, Guo Fu is an ideal place for after work dinner in a comfortable environment. Nice enough to bring a date or to have a business meal, it is also conveniently located in China Square Central. Although the steamboat buffet sounds like a steal at $25.90 on weekdays and $27.90 on weekends, bear in mind the additional cost of the soup base that ranges from $9 to $23. For example, a split pot of Beauty Soup and Mild Spicy Soup soup costs $16. Slightly complicated pricing aside, the quality of meats and seafood is commendable, and the XLB is free flow! Beers and liquors (red and white wines, Umeshu, sake and more) are also reasonably priced. Pro tip: Order the XLB immediately, as they are freshly made and will take a while. They will make a good starter while you wait for your food to cook!
