Breakfast Of Kings! Nothing beats eating on a banana leaf!
Not anywhere close to "authentic" lamprais. Nevertheless, a tasty dish for lunch. It's from the Vilasa Cottage at MC. Got it delivered by Quickee.
I know, the Kottu you get at a wayside hotel is large in portion & more spicy. But Casa Kottu isn't bad. Loved the prawns!
Curries cooked in a clay utensil (hatiyya) will definitely give you a wonderful flavour to savour #burpple
Koththu /Kottu is a regular dish in Sri Lanka. It is claimed that this originated from Batticaloa. (In South India it is known as Koththu Parota). Usually it's prepared with rotti made out of flour. But string hoppers are also widely used. Yaal Restaurant has a selection of Koththu made out of Pittu (another rice/wheat flour based item). I tried the Cuttlefish version the other day. It won't match the regular Koththu; but still a good dish. And I love my food served on banana leaf!

Pani Appa & Wandu Appa [Appa (Sinhala) / Appam (Tamil) = hoppers]
It's actually from the Pastry shop of GoH. Quite large in size. One of the best Maalu Paans in Colombo. Well, not every Maalu Paan has Maalu (Fish) in it, these days. But, this one was really good with the right amount of Maalu!
No one cooks Polos better than Sri Lankan Sinhalese! I stay at a Sinhalese home and never miss Polos curry! :)
The place serves some of the best crabs & cuttlefish in town. But, it's a tiny place with less ventilation. To add to that, it gets crowded during lunch time. Once again the crabs & cuttlefish are good. Rice is served on banana leaves with at least 3 vegetables & a piece of fried fish. Truly (northern) Sri Lankan experience.
