After a series of food previews at New Zealand Food Fair by Cold Storage and the recent relaunched of Jasons The Gourmet Grocer, I'm back at Cold Storage again. This time round, it's the Japan Shizuoka Food Fair featuring over 500 exclusive and authentic Japanese products with a couple of live stations serving Yakisoba, Croquette, Daifuku and Mochi.

The Shizuoka Food Fair - Flavours of Japan 2015 is taking place at Plaza Singapura Atrium from 10am to 10pm on 19-28 June 2015, after which the products will be on the shelves of selected Cold Storage, MarketPlace and Jasons stores. Do drop by if you are in town this weekend for a live tuna cutting demo and Japanese cultural performances from 2.00pm on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st.

If you haven’t watch one before, head down to Pasarbella at The Grandstand today 7pm, and watch in awe as a giant tuna is skillfully cut right in front of your eyes!

Savour the best cut of Bluefin Tuna freshly flown in from Tsukiji Fish Market at Oceans Of Seafood. Sushi and sashimi are on 50% offer starting from $3 for Chuturo Nigiri (Tuna Sushi), and Toro Don (Tuna Rice bowl) for only $25.

The much-loved Aburi Salmon Maki from The Sushi Bar second outlet at (NAC) Takashimaya 5th level. The new dining concept space is much bigger and better, opens daily from 11:30am to 9pm. Currently in its soft opening period (no queues) and accepts cash terms only.

Second consecutive night having Shabu Shabu Shiokness. Tried the RamenPlay Beef Shabu Shabu with Kimchi soup at only $14.90++ per set. Prefer the Kimchi taste to be stronger but the clear soup came out a winner.

It was light on the palate yet flavorful enough with an abundance of vegetables, tofu and three kinds of mushrooms served with a raw egg, sesame sauce, pickles and a choice of chewy udon or Niigata Koshihikari rice imported from Japan.

This is madness, can't believe that it's so affordable. The Shabu Shabu set is currently available only at NEX, Jem, Velocity, BreadTalk IHQ (after 5pm) and will be introduced at Bedok Mall by June 2015.

Transported to Japan momentarily with a fine FUGU (Puffer Fish) & Wagyu Sirloin Shabu Shabu Kaiseki meal at Singapore's one & only Japanese Fugu restaurant.

The beginner Fugu course (Ebisu) starts from $150 per course (serves two), while the Ohmi Beef shabu shabu is priced friendly from $100 onwards. If you're in for a classic style Fugu steamboat, all the hotpots are only at $70 per set and serves 2-3 person.

Bara Chirashi and Avocado Soft Crab Shell Maki from Chirashi Tei located at 5th level of 313 @ Somerset within the Food Republic premises.

The Bara Chirashi was adequate for only $9.90 nett (U.P. $19.90 for Chirashi set), but I wouldn't mind paying more for premium quality.

Looted some traditional Matcha Warabimochi from the Japanese Food Fair at Takashimaya Food Hall B2, featuring a small gathering of some long established stores in Japan such as Kobe Fugetsudo where I got my Japanese sweets.

The Japanese Fair will stay for another week until next Sunday 10 May 2015. The dainty wooden box of melt-in-your-mouth Matcha Warabimochi cost $12 a box (200 grams) however one is never enough.

Japanese Brunch at the latest Saboten outlet at Millennia Walk after the mall's new facelift. Do not miss out the new premium Iberico pork tonkatsu series such as the Iberico Special Gozen ($29) comes with Iberico loin katsu, Fried shrimp, Crab cream croquette and Tenderloin katsu.

All set menu include imported Japanese rice, chawanmushi, pickles, miso soup, cabbage and dessert. Rice and cabbage are refillable complimentary.

A beautifully executed work of art by Chef Murata at Akari Japanese Dining & Bar. This is part of the inaugural Kaiseki dinner ($100-$150) on top of their a la carte menu. The 10-course Kaiseki set menu will be available during dinner on weekdays and weekends coming end of April.

Killing some time at Isetan's Spring Kyushu Fair that's taking place from 16 - 26 April from 11am to 9pm. This is Takoyaki ($7 per box) from Nakayama Shokuhin.

Exclusive Kyushu delicacies like the Kansho Sweet Potato, Amao Strawberries, Hakata Men-Oh Ramen and a variety of Japanese Sweets such as soft serve, mochi, creme puffs, pastries and more are available at the Atrium B1 of Westgate till the fair ends.
