Unlike a ceviche which usually comes in cubes of fish, the tiradito comes in thinly sliced strips of fresh, raw fish. What you'll find here at Supply & Demand however, is not your classic Peruvian take on the dish. While methods of preparation might be similar, the people over at Supply & Demand have decided to do it fusion style: Thai + Peruvian. A wonderful combination of Cilantro Lime, chilli and sesame dressing with fresh slices of raw fish topped off with some salad. One of the better and more affordable starters that I've come across in a long while.
If you've been wondering why I haven't really been actively posting pictures of food, that's because I'm actually on a diet right now; so it's mostly clean eating (homecooked delights). But anyway, I digress. One of the places that I frequent is Mezza9 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. I have come to trust that regardless of the dish that I order during each visit, there is a certain consistency in the standard of most, if not all their dishes. So how could I resist a lunch appointment with a friend at Mezza9? This didn't mean that I had to go on a total cheat day though. While flipping through the menu, I saw that they had the usual salads and for the health conscious, "custom made" meals. But I didn't come all the way to Mezza9 for that. In light of the sustainable seafood festival that was going on, plus my diet, I decided to go for their sustainable market fish of the day: seared barramundi. The skin was seared to a slight crisp and the meat was tender, with a slightly chewy texture. Fresh, tasty and in aid of environment, what more could one ask for in a dish? Now for those who are wondering what's the big deal about sustainable seafood, let me sum it up for you: you do not want your favorite seafood to go extinct because you will not get to eat it, future generations will not get to eat it, everyone will not get to eat it.
while pricey, the meats served at mezza9 are definitely of premium quality. The tenderloin was ... tender 😂 and juicy. Looking at the pink of the meat, one can tell it was cooked evenly and that takes considerable skill to do so. The lamb shanks were heavenly! For those who dislike the gamey smell that one usually gets when biting the membrane of lamb, rest assured that the lamb shanks at mezza9 are free of this. The texture of the lamb shanks are reminiscent of good quality tenderloin. While the meat grill included pork sausages and a rotisserie chicken as well, they were overshadowed by the exquisite quality of the lamb and beef. I found the chicken to be average tasting and the pork sausages, while flavourful and juicy, were simply not worth spending so much on. I highly recommend trying mezza9 out, you might even spot me there while you're at it, that's how much I love their food.
Can't go wrong with Truffle Fries
An excellent piece of cod by the people over at P.S Cafe, fresh and done just right. Topped off with a grilled aubergine, roasted pumpkin and a soba salad on the side. What I love most about this place though, is the ambience that made my dining experience an absolute pleasure
