Tan Yu specializes in Chongqing-style grilled fish. Besides Grilled Fish with Fresh Green Pepper and Chongqing Grilled Fish with Beancurd which are signature and Chongqing classic respectively, there are 8 other styles of grilled fish to choose from. There are also cold dishes and other grilled foods.

Whampoa Keng Food Street Steamboat Restaurant is the perfect place for hearty fish head steamboat and zi char dishes at wallet-friendly prices.

Go-Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice specializes in Hainanese chicken rice but I personally don’t find anything special about their chicken rice. I do highly recommend the steamed sea bass.

Rabbit Brand Seafood Delicacies in Lucky Plaza serves delicacies such as shark’s fin and abalone at economical prices.

Come down to Da Niu Chao Shang Hai Xian 大牛潮汕海鲜 for some Chao Shan seafood dishes that is sure to leave you craving for more.

Hua Yu Wee is a heritage restaurant on that serves a tantalizing array of zi char and seafood dishes in an old colonial bungalow.

Treasures Yi Dian Xin is one of my favorite restaurant for dim sum in Singapore. You can be guaranteed of the same great quality across all 4 outlets. New dishes are regularly introduced so do come down to check them out from time to time.

I am really here for their Shanxi Liang Pi [S$3.50] which is really good. The liangpi is chewy and the Chinese sesame sauce goes really well with the sliced cucumber and bean sprouts. There are also other Chinese dishes such as dumplings and noodles and 12 cold dishes to choose from.

Xin Wah Kee is a casual Chinese restaurant with outlets in Velocity @ Novena Square and 100AM. I recommend Xin Wah Kee’s Toman Fish Soup, Herbal Chicken Soup, Braised Pork Rice and Fried Prawn Paste Chicken.

Wok Hey serves up stir-fried noodles and rice with a detectable charred aroma (wok hei). Only delivery and pick-up available, perfect for the covid-19 situation.‬

Mini Star (HK) Fermented Beancurd is about the only place to have authentic Hong Kong snacks such as fermented beancurd in Singapore.
