This doesn't look like the most appetizing thing on earth, but trust me, this Korean version of Thai mookata is SERIOUSLY delicious! Honestly we weren't sure if we were supposed to cook the wagyu beef slices and the assorted mushrooms on the central hotplate first before dunking them into the "river" of broth, or to cook them in the broth directly, so we did a mix of both. Either way, the end results were amazing! We enjoyed the beef so much, we ordered another portion. By the end of all that cooking, the broth had become so thick and sweet, it may not be ideal for slurping up as soup anymore, but it sure is perfect as "gravy" for rice! Two thumbs up!

The problem I have with a lot of Korean fried chicken, is that they tend to taste quite bland once you get past the skin. At Guksu though, this is no issue at all! The lightly battered wings are not only finger-licking delicious on the outside, the flavors extend well into the flesh too! Also mention-worthy is the buttery mashed potato that's included in the platter, which earned high praise from everyone at the table!

Seems like there's a tendency for their chefs to overcook the food here! The fried chicken pieces (top left) were so badly burnt, little was left by the time we trimmed off the blackened parts. The pork belly rice bowl (bottom left) tasted best amongst all, but still, the charred bits that lined every slice of pork were unpleasantly bitter. The BBQ pork ribs (bottom right) were tender enough on the inside, but the borders were extremely tough and dry. The miserly few pieces of chopped seafood on the pancake (top right) were also too rubbery to eat. I can only say, should have eaten at the nearby chomp chomp instead!

We ordered 2 sets of fried chicken in Spicy and Garlic Soy flavors to share among 5 of us, and the portion was so huge we were feeling really stuffed by the time we were done. Can't really decide which flavor I like more between the 2, they were both delicious in their own ways. Also highly recommend the Mango Salad (not pictured) to refresh your palate in between chicken pieces!

While I'd give full marks for the fried chicken here, their noodles unfortunately fell short of expectations, which is a shame since the restaurant name Guksu means 'noodles' in Korean. The noodles were quite difficult to bite through, and the beef broth tasted way too bland. We managed to make this taste better only after mixing in loads of kimchi, which was free-flow and notably delicious.

This is for kimchi lovers! Addictively tangy and spicy, this stew with sliced pork belly and loads of crunchy vegetables whets the appetite and leaves you wanting more.

This is ok but maybe cos it isn't Korean-tasting enough so it just didn't seem to go very well with our other dishes that night.

Lacking the typical spiciness of gochujang sauce, this is quite mildly flavored and may come across as abit too bland. We improvised by mixing in a saltish sauce from one of our other side dishes, and the resulting taste was definitely more pleasing!

This yuzu flavored makgeolli slush is plain awesome! Refreshing, sweet, and with just a hint of alcohol, it's perfect for someone like me who doesn't really take well to the taste of alcohol

A warm gooey mess of melted cheese, mini sized macaroni and kimchi-infused cream sauce. Pretty good!

Very crispy and makes a nice snack to go along with our drinks, albeit a little too salty

Though quite tasty, I would think it's a tad too pricey at $11 after adding tax and service charge! In future I will order their mains which seem more value for money instead.
