A bit oily but surprisingly, it wasn't too bad #burpple #mccafeindeed
Reasonably fluffy kueh but the chye boh was not strong enough and neither were they generous on portions.

After looking through so many pictures of oozing baguette balls, I knew I wanted to try one for myself. I enjoyed the original custard one the best, and my second fav was the red velvet. Didn't really like the chocolate and matcha red bean as they had a bit of an artificial taste.
A warning, these baguette balls are full of exploding oozing cream so get your tissues ready! Or, thread carefully by biting a small hole and sucking out the cream slowly.
Another warning is that these baguettes taste much better hot than cold. When hot, they are fluffy and crunchy. But when they cool down, the bread starts to harden and it becomes hard to bite. This makes it even messier to consume. You have been warned.

On my first visit, these pies had already sold out. That only made me want to try it even more. However, I was disappointed as the value of this pie did not match up to its taste. The crust tastes resoundingly similar to the chicken pie from Prima Deli, with the sweet flavour and crumbly texture. The chicken and bacon filling portions were given sparingly.

Looks nicer in pictures I saw on the Burpple Feed than in real life. It was surprsingly small when I received my waffle stick. I like that the batter is thick and had a full texture to it vs. airy and hollow waffles. The chocolate sauce gave the main burst of flavour with the marshmallows simply adding another texture to it and the crumbled digestives was a bit non-existent. Still, a reasonably priced dessert. Although, I would much prefer heading over and queueing for a Sanum.

Soft, chewy batter with very thick and generous amounts of dark chocolate. Less crispy than it is chewy.
Try the ginger dark chocolate for something nice yet exotic!

Deemed as experts of the Muah Chee, this little corner stall of this hawker centre serves their signature dish alone and nothing else, with varying serving sizes for you to choose from. I found the preparation really interesting as the Muah Chee first needed to be kneaded / beat up / whacked upside down for a start; I always found that rather amusing. Thereafter, the muah chee was cut up into the little bite-sized balls, and then it was dipped in this small saucer containing some oily dried chili like substance before being coated in the roasted crushed peanuts (with sugar). I think that substance is part of the special flavour. I found the taste to be consistent and chewy, not far from what I imagined it to be. And surprsingly, the portion was quite generous for an order of the 'small'.

Love this snack from Japan! Super epic with the custard banana cream within a soft sponge cake outer layer. Can be consumed either cold or warm :)
My first encounter with waffles before the cafe craze and I still really love these traditional waffles that come with many other different flavours like chocolate, blueberry, or even ice cream. The ones here at Best Bakes was mediocre. The waffles were slightly too fluffy and weren't crispy enough to my liking. Usually, I order peanut butter so that I can enjoy it melted after being spread on the piping hot waffle pieces. However, the peanut butter here was still hard when I took a bite into it so I was slightly disappointed. Best part of this has got to be the price, as most of these waffles still remain affordable, going at prices below 2 dollars.

"I love eating. But I hate getting fat. I love eating. But I only want to eat the best. I love eating. But I'm reluctant to spend too much." The above are a few paradoxes that describe my love-hate relationship with food. Yet at the same time they define my principles for choosing the places which I love to eat: 1) Hearty 2) Tasty 3) Worthy (of my money)
