Original Is Best

I first tried Meruto Cheesecake (Original, $8) as a gift. Loved it so much that I bought more thereafter to share with others - Pandan ($8) & Matcha Green Tea ($9). The texture is the same for all, no matter what flavour it is. Light & fluffy & most importantly (for me) not too sweet.

My favourite is the original, then the Matcha, & lastly the Pandan. I just feel that the other flavours clash with the natural cheese flavour that is so subtle & delicious. It's a little confusing to eat.

There also is a Cookie flavoured one, which I did not try. But I'm quite inclined to stick to the very yummy original!

You can contact their store at 8612 2205 to enquire about what flavours are left or if you wish to reserve any. I actually told them I'd collect it from 12-1PM & I was running late.. Got a call at 1:10PM (when I almost reached haha) as a gentle reminder - I think that's pretty good service?

Put it in the fridge if you don't eat it immediately - 'tis good for 3 days, but honestly I'm quite sure it'll be all gone before the 3rd day lah 😉

The store is very inconspicuous - unit number is #01-3663 if that helps anyone. If you're parking your car, park as far from the entrance as you can to minimise walking distance.

Get Them To Go

Strange to come to a Strudel place to order cakes ($15.10 for these 3 slices)... But we didn't want the flaky pastry to aggravate our coughs. I'm not surprised with my experience here. Small tables that sit only 8 people in total, & cashier area is very small too. Most people here place orders to go. & we probably should've done that too, because our chocolate cake & cheesecake were both taken out from the freezer. Rock. Solid. Hard. Very difficult to eat immediately - which the cashier did make known to us when we ordered so... It's not her fault.

There are way better cakes elsewhere, so stick to their Strudel is what I'd recommend.

Not Too Sweet Though Caramelized

The scrumptious Apple Tart Tatin ($10.00) has a preparation time of 30 minutes, so it's best to order it at the start of your meal 'cos it's gonna take a while. Does not look like much, but is a pleasant dessert. The pastry added a nice chewy texture to the soft apple in the center-- which, btw, the apple is PIPING HOT so watch out when you tuck in! Surprisingly, it is NOT as sweet as I feared it would be. Delightful!

Not My Fave But Still Yummy

Coconut Blancmange ($12++)

The creamy coconut Panna Cotta was quite divine-- & the passionfruit on top gave it a good sour/tart kick. Indifferent towards the crumbles on top. Overall, pleasantly surprised with this dessert, though I would still prefer the Valrhona Chocolate (if shared) as a dessert.

Wonderful

Valrhona Chocolate ($14++)

Fabulous gooey centre; a decadent dessert meant to be shared, if not you'll feel like a buibui after you finish it all.

Dense & Fairly Rich

Cakes ($7 a slice) are "seasonal" in that they rotate often - check the display next to the cashier to see what they have. Here's a chocolate cheesecake - dense, slightly tangy, & the chocolate is only a little bit sweet. It is very jelat to finish this on your own, so don't be greedy & do share this with your friends.

Not that I tried. I didn't. I only tried to finish half 😛

Cheese Tea Is Special

Cheese Jing Syuan Tea
芝士金宣茶
$4.10 M, $5.10 L; +$0.50 for pearls

Not the best cheese combination I have tried, but it's decent. For those who don't know what the cheese tastes like - think of a BAKE cheese tart in foamy form. Slightly salty, slightly sweet. You try each layer by itself first, then muddle it together & drink it all up. When you do, the cheese taste isn't that prominent anymore. ☺

Comfort Dessert

My all time favourite is the Bo Bo Cha Cha 摩摩喳喳 ($2.30 nett), & sometimes it runs out if you're too late, so I guess I'm not the only one 😆 I enjoy it cold, but my trusty eating buddy prefers it hot. So I always get the best of both worlds - & yes, there is a difference: Red Rubies are only put in the hot one!

A Popular Haunt

Not a fan of Chendol 浆罗 ($2.00 nett) in general so unfortunately I can't comment on this. Here, have a picture.

The queues you see here at any time of day are testament to how popular this place is amongst Jurong Westies. Could be the cheap prices, could be the 45 strong menu of desserts (5 are drinks), could be the perpetually sweltering hot weather that warrants a dessert all day erriday.

Consistent

No "random syrups" & "gross pastes" (© Dex, 2017) that turn me off from ice kacang here. 👍

Preferred Durian Ice Kacang 榴莲红豆冰 over Mango Ice Kacang 芒果红豆冰 (both $2.80 nett each) because of the wonderful fragrance of the durian (haha) & it is the less sweet of the 2. Although I must put a disclaimer here: The mango one ISN'T disgustingly syrupy sweet, & I did enjoy it too.

Shiok

Am not a fan of their gelato - but was really craving coconut water ($4.20), so I got this. It usually comes with a scoop of gelato inside, but I opted to swap it out for some coconut meat. Yum....

💵 Cash/NETS only
🌬 Air-conditioned seats (but a little stuffy)
💺 Small seating area

Yum!

Their entrance is small; it's right next to Giant, & I almost missed it.

Your DIY options:

Mini Me - $2.90 (1 topping)
Fun Size - $4.90 (2 toppings)
Popular - $5.90 (2 toppings + 1 sauce)

This is the Fun Size, which I paid $3.90 for because you get 20% off from 2-5PM on Tues & Wed. I don't actually care about whether my froyo is black or white or whatever, but I do care about the sweetness. This one isn't too sweet, hooray! Also, they give enough toppings to make me feel satisfied - hooray! But some will inevitably fall out as you scoop your froyo because the cup is really, really filled up.

Just as I was about to leave, I was asked how my yogurt was. I appreciated that. Service was friendly & with a smile.

The space isn't air-conditioned, with only a standing fan blowing at me. Better than nothing, but I can imagine it getting real warm. Also, there are only 2 tables to sit at, which only 8 people can fit in comfortably. (There are public benches outside for common use, but if it's a sweltering day like today, I suggest you seek actual shelter.) For these reasons, I'd recommend getting yours to go.
