Western Australia

This required a bit of a detour but boy was it worth it. It took us at least 10min to choose our flavours from the mindboggling array available - think there were at least 30 different flavours available. The ice cream was creamy and perfect for the hot day; we just ate it outdoors at one of the many picnic benches available. Of the three flavours we got, the hazelnut mocha in particular was 👌🏻👌🏻. Give the meh waffles a miss (it came with the not-so-good kind of whipped cream...) and leave your tummy space for more ice cream.

A must-visit in Fremantle is the harbor where there are at least 3 fish and chip shops. Sweetlips is supposedly better than Kaili's and Cicerello's, based on my research online. Didn't eat at the other two, but this was pretty decent. Standout was the barramundi (which we paid extra for) - it was so delicate, fresh and juicy! This also came with fried feta cheese - a first time seeing this for me - and the brother gobbled that up with gusto.

The boysenberry pie was delicious - both tart and sweet at the same time. The whipped cream went really well with it, tempering out the tartness and adding some richness to the pie. Usually not a fan of cream but freshly whipped cream from Australia is usually just perfection. The scones were flaky and warm, but really were just vehicles for that AMAZING strawberry jam (and of course the fresh cream...). The Cottage Cafe at The Berry Farm is definitely a must-visit in Margaret River.

Everyone in my family loves eating pies in Australia - somehow they just taste so much better. The Bunbury Farmers Market was absolutely heaven with shelves stocked full of super fresh and colourful local produce 😍 We bought this pie from their takeaway counter just outside. The flaky pastry and rich filling went perfectly with the refreshing cold-pressed juices we bought from the market.

Usually not a fan of sweet breakfast / brunch items but this was one of the best pancakes I've ever eaten. The fresh cream and maple butter provided were delicious too and we polished everything off.
