Located on the street level of the Tanglin Post Office Building, New Rasa Singapura is a restaurant that serves local delights. It is also a social enterprise that provides training and employment to the less fortunate, including mature individuals or people with physical impairment.
π
So if you are lunching around Tanglin, do pop by New Rasa Singapura to eat some yummy and support the less fortunate at the same time. On weekdays, New Rasa offer affordable lunch sets at SGD 10 Nett (main course of the day + Coffee/Tea/Soft Drink/Potong Ice Cream). Each day, there are 2 different choices available. On Wednesdays, you can choose between New Rasa Laksa or Hainanese Chicken Rice. And on other days, you can look forward to local favourites like Char Kway Teow, Beef Rendang and Carrot Cake.
π
In frame is my choice of New Rasa Laksa and Clipper Tea. New Rasa Laksa is a dry laksa served with chicken/prawns, tau pok (fried beancurd) and beansprouts. I opted to have it with chicken, which was tender and succulent. While the spicy level is on the low side, taste is authentic and the amount of coconut milk is not overwhelming. Overall, a good dry laksa. give it some love if you are around here!

Taste-wise, it was right on point too.

Filled with thick strips of fresh pork belly (instead of the shabu shabu type), cucumbers, onions and tofu, the tasty soup had a good consistency (not too watery nor too thick) and had the right balance of spicy and salty. And being someone who's not a fan of sourish soups, I appreciate that kimchi was not added to complicate this concoction.

But while I like the taste of the soup, which tasted markedly different from the Korean instant noodle's soup stock, I did wish that the pork belly were a little less fatty so that I can indulge with less concern.
π²
I also had their tteokbokki (SGD 6+) and Korean Seafood Pancake (SGD 7+), both of which just as delightful. Service was also attentive and welcoming. And they also had my favourite #freewifisg . If you work around Raffles Place, give this authentic Korean restaurant a try.

How about some economic rice at the Tony Cafe in The Adelphi?

The fried chicken is really crispy and flavorful, reminding me of how Tenderfresh Chicken (ε―η±ιΈ‘) used to taste like.
