Pla Tord Sam Rot, 20 ++. Since this was the fillet version, dory fish was used rather than the Seabass offered for the whole fish. A little wet, but fantastic flavour of the three flavoured sweet, sour and spicy sauce. Excellent service. Quite a few restrictions on the menu for Beyond so make sure to ask before ordering.

Chilled lunch in the outdoor section, even if it is overlooking a car park it feels tranquil. Hit and miss on the food; underwhelming portion for the huevos rancheros pictures (20++) but livened up by the jalapeños. Clear winner was the fish and chips, crispy beet batter and wholesome portion. Would recommend that of the 2 dishes.

Light lunch and this is the Grilled Seabass cooked Donostiarra style (30 ++). Not sure what that style is despite asking, but it was succulent and well seasoned. The rice was tasty, if a little sweet, with sliced grilled garlic and caramelised onion well distributed within. Like other posts, the tomato bread is great and gone in an instant! Mussels overpriced for what is delivered; there are better value starters. Will be back to try the paella and the meat.

Following a bike ride around Punggol and Coney Island, the appetite was well and truly activated. Step forward sambal stingray to the rescue! Boneless piece of stingray, accompanied by coconut rice and kale. Great outdoor seating area to rest and recharge. Helpful and friendly staff also.

Pictured is the Loch Fyne Salmon Fillet, 64++. Cooked to perfection in the Josper grill, with morsels of tender king crab and a smooth intense seafood broth. Faultless food, faultless view, faultless service. A real 5 star experience.

Black garlic tonkotsu broth, 12.90. The closest to a good bowl of ramen in the surrounding area. A welcome addition for lunchtime. Gyoza a worthy side dish also.

Crispy smashed potatoes. It’s hard to share these when they taste so good! Smashed means more surface area which means more crunch to dip into the sweet bbq sauce. Forget the diet and dive in :)

This is the Tiradito ‘Tuna Nikkei’ (25++); very thinly sliced tuna in a punchy sweet and sour Peruvian dressing. Artfully decorated with pearls of wasabi and pickles. All in all a fantastic dish; light on the palate but a real wake up dish. Was the benchmark dish on the visit.

You know the drill by now at Bar Bar; choose from the Indian, Thai or the burger kitchen. This is the butter chicken with plain naan (approx 20 sgd). Soft morsels of chicken, rich creamy sauce and the most consistent naan breads to mop it up. Comfort food done well. Great beers also!

This was the mixed seafood platter with Tsipoura fish ( sea bream) taking pride of place and grilled to perfection. 118 sgd ++. Accompanied by a pair of tender jumbo prawns and a chargrilled octopus which was delicious. The calamari was also well executed if a little hard work at the end but only because of the quantity. Relaxing and bright ambience and very busy even at a lunchtime sitting. Great place to come if you’re a) hungry and b) in a big group so you can try more. Excellent restaurant and well run. Will be back!

Such a simple dish but one done badly in many places. This however was well executed; crispy with a touch of herbs. A home made dip would have been the ultimate addition but the provided bbq sauce was a workable substitute. Very friendly staff also. Worth a visit if you’re in the area...

Excellent restaurant, great ambience and wonderful ingredients served up by non-intrusive helpful staff. Went off piste a little with the Chicken Karaage wasabi taco (pictured). Was tempted by the intriguing mix of flavours. Not exactly what I expected though; tasted fine but karaage was chopped and the crunch disappeared with it (though the taco itself was crunchy). Other dishes absolutely great.
