What a big surprise of Omakase! When they brought it to us and it is the first time I ate it! It's from Japan and a kind of shell fish! U never know what u got and that is the most interesting part of Omakase!
I especially enjoyed their sushi omakase when I was at the counter, and watched as Chef Gary prepared each piece of sushi while chatting with us with his localised sense of humor. For the sushi omakase, you stop at anytime you wish, but the more you eat the more you pay. We had 22 sushi between the two of us and paid $200++ in total, but that included starters and desserts. The quality was comparable to many of the best sushi restaurant in Japan so it was a really memorable meal.
For this meal I chose the chirashi don from their ala carte menu, and it came with thick slices of sashimi from a large variety of fishes. The meal also was included truffled chawanmushi and clam soup. If you like most kinds of raw fishes, you'll like this bowl for it's freshness but most people I know are very particular about the fishes they eat for sashimi, so this may not be for everyone. I also like the flavourful pearl rice and the fish-to-rice ratio of approximately 1:1.
Some may expect only the best Japanese food from Japanese chef. But Chef Gary proved that the homegrown locals here can do that as well as many of the best Japanese restaurants here.
And best of all, it's just opposite my office :)
