The Black Cod (SGD$56.00) - pearl white slices of melty, luscious cod, flaking like snow upon the tongues.

Grilled Japanese leeks, white Chervil root puree, and a yuzu pork broth completed the dish excellently.

The feisty Granny at the stall did a 360 degree change at me though, when she was so friendly to them boys before me. Scary. ⚘
But we 3 was good company, and brightened the meal up considerably.

Tom Yum Noodles (SGD$6.90) was not as robust as its laksa counterpart, but the tangy zest was still evident in its broth. Ingredients were generous, including dried tofu (taupok), mushrooms, carrot cubes, mock chicken, mock prawns and sotong balls, etc - making for a filling and fulfilling meal.

Rainbow Sushi Roll (SGD$10.00 for half roll / SGD$18.00 for full roll).

I was taking a gamble here because I know that most sushi rolls are a little too moistened and messy because of all the ingredients folded into one and cut. This one however, was very... neat, shall I say? Solid ingredients - shrimp, tuna, sashimi, avocado and Japanese rice beautifully coiled, with some sushi containing more than one type of seafood. The result was colourful and utterly tasty, with minimal "fall-offs" of ingredients.

Katsu Curry Rice (SGD $12.90) for her - golden pieces of crackling, deep fried battered chicken and an aromatic Japanese rice laced with sweetness, over chewy Japanese pearl rice. For takeout (delivery is available on Foodpanda if you haven't time to dine in or pick up the food yourself), the curry and rice with chicken cutlet are thoughtfully separated into 2 containers, of course.

The Beef Bourguignon was lovely and dainty - red wine braised tender beef rolled up artfully, served with mashed potato and vegetables. Flavour was not too heavy like the usual French dishes - it was lovely, and easy on both teeth and palate.

Wagyu Beef Rosu (SGD$32.00) - charcoal-grilled wagyu beef served with spring onions and a nectarous vine tomato.

The Wagyu Beef was so succulent and juicy, each slice seemed to glide down the throat like a foodie's dream, working its delicious smokey-tinged sweetness around the palate.

Duck Confit (SGD$26.80) - was slow-cooked for 8 hours so meat was succulent beneath its crackling skin. Petit Salad, crispy Potato Wedges and maple mustard dressing added flavours and crunch to the dish, but what really stood out was the sunny side-up egg flanking the duck leg. I poked it and let its yolk sweeten out the saltish duck - lovely effect.
