This one was just average, but it's thoughtful to include that small serving of curry. Part of a NDP special menu of the restaurant's bestsellers priced at $5.20, valid until 31st August.
Here's the menu for the NDP promo at Penang Culture. You can order multiple items from this menu. Valid only for dine in, till 31st August.
Instead of a drink, hubby got this 'King of Chendol' as he loves shaved ice desserts. The generous drizzle of gula melaka and santan makes it deliciously sweet and lemak. The pandan jelly and red beans are nice and firm (hate the ones that are mushy). It's already good on it's own, but they topped it with durian pulp for good measure. Shiok level: maximum. It's also part of the NDP celebration menu, going for $5.20 a bowl.
Wow I forgot how much I love the Seafood Tom Yum Noodle here. The soup is thick, potent and a perfect balance of spicy and sour. The noodle is springy and comforting, better than those from a packet of Maggi Mee. There's two large prawns, fish, squid and mushroom. I've never had any issues with the freshness of seafood here. I'm so glad I discovered this by accident (who would actually order tom yum at a Penang food restaurant?) So shiok I need this again!
Ordered a plate of fried cheese tofu cuz I wanted an appetizer to munch on. It's also one of my processed food guilty pleasures, including fake crabsticks and bright orange fish fillets. Clearly I have sophisticated tastebuds, but I know you all like them too okay don't bluff!
I thought that nasi lemak is Malaysia's national dish, but it seems to be celebrated and loved just as much in Singapore. Just look at places like Selera Rasa, The Coconut Club, Boon Lay Power, Lawa Bintang (lobster nasi lemak) and many other nasi lemak specialists.

Seriously craving for laksa, thank goodness there's Encik Tan at the mall near my home. I always have mine without taugeh and cockles. A little too heavy on the coconut milk, but still managed to soothe my craving.
This dish is sprinkled with lots of black pepper *and* curry leaves. I found it to be too spicy. Hubby didn't seem to mind the heat. #burpple
The 'seafood' is just prawn and sotong. Some fish slices would've been nice. Love those silky strands of egg in the gravy though.

Definitely passes the wok hei test, if not I won't even bother to post this up.
I've encountered many times where the noodle is nice, but the beef is bland and tough to chew. No such problem at this place. The beef slices are tender and nicely seasoned.
I especially love the charred bits of cabbage, and fresh crisp lettuce to cut through all that (delicious) grease.
I've had this a few times already and enjoy it very much, but the hor fun/kway teow fills me up quickly and I have to make sure I have someone to share the meal with. From the price, you can tell that it's a larger portion than what you normally get at a hawker centre.
I also realised that I can really talk non-stop about something as simple as a plate of noodles. Why cannot just eat and move on? Must write long essay macam sitting for 'A' Level General Paper. Not as if I know what that's like because I was from Poly ahahahah. 😂

It's right next to the popular Habib Rojak. Sorry you can't really see the nasi, hungry husband means no chance for a pic. I just wanted a light noodle soup for dinner, but hubby's dish looks and smells so good that I kept stealing some bites for myself.
I also saw they've got mee hailam, wantan mee and lots of other Chinese-style rice and noodle dishes. Nice alternative to the rows upon rows of mamak stalls there.

Yup, I went back for my chicken karaage. Had it with miso ramen + gyoza. The default filling for their gyoza is fish, which tasted like sardines, which I didn't like and will not be ordering again.
While settling the bill, I told the waiter I always struggle to finish the ramen because the portion is too much for me. He said that I can order a mini serving of their ramen bowl. Sianz. I only saw mini rice bowls on the menu, I thought they didn't have that for ramen. Chawanmushi is also available but not listed in the menu. Errr ok.
Miso ramen + gyoza $13.80
Tori karaage $5.50
Ocha (hot green tea) $1
