This casual Western place which offers value-for-money weekday set lunches is always packed with students and office-goers during lunchtime.

I went straight for my favourite potato rosti! — which includes a soup, garlic toast and drink. ❤️ the crisp, golden-brown grated potato pancake with sausage and sour cream. 😋

Finally tried these pan-fried buns [a.k.a. sheng jian bao 生煎包] after reading rave reviews from social medias.

The enormous bun comes with a somewhat thicker skin and pan-fried bottom, bursting with amazingly flavourful broth and juicy meat filling.

One quick note 📝 is to consume the pan-fried buns & fried dumplings 🔜 as the chewy skin hardens quickly, nearly causing a chipped tooth when I bite on the thick doughy skin. 😨

Yay! Finally, it’s the school holidays! 🥳

This cutesy Winnie-the-Pooh themed gelato cafe is one of my favourite places to visit when I’m craving for a sweet dessert. 🫶🏻

Love their fragrant & distinct signature coconut pandan waffle 🧇 that is golden-brown and crispy on the outside, and slightly chewy, mochi-like on the inside paired with swirl of gula melaka sauce and a scoop of creamy vanilla with biscoff crumbs.

Gosh! This rich and full-bodied soup packed with ingredients including potatoes 🥔, carrots 🥕, tomatoes 🍅 and onions 🧅 is incredibly comforting and nourishing — keeping me warm during this rainy ☔️ season.

It’s also my favourite soup [that my late grandma used to prepare] during my childhood days.

This self-service eatery is just a stone’s throw away from my workplace and I have never tried it until now.

I’m uncertain about the Korean flavour of this dish but it sure has the essential element of local zi char [a.k.a. stir-fry] cooking — tender and flavourful beef slices with onions on a sizzling cast iron hot plate with the distinctive ‘wok hei’ [a.k.a. smoky flavour]. Yums! 😋

P.S. Did I mention that this set that comes in generous portion and free-flow of barley tea cost below S$8.00?!

Yay! Managed to grab the last one off the shelves from this old school bakery that specialised in pies and puffs.

Love 🫶🏻 this soul-warming pie with chock-full of minced beef, mushrooms, carrots, onions and peas fillings, topped with golden brown cheesy mashed potato. 🤩

Simple & traditional thick, chewy min jiang kueh [a.k.a. pancakes] that comes with abundant coarsely ground peanuts and creamy peanut butter combi. It may be best to heat up the pancake before consumption since it’s pre-made beforehand.

Nibble bites — Chewy mini pancakes with sweet, fragrant coconut flakes 🥥 or crunchy peanut 🥜 fillings.

Not sure whether it’s their signature but the layer of crust on the surface has a distinct ‘chao tar’ [a.k.a. charred.burnt] taste. Nonetheless, seeing the never-ending queue at the stall, this is probably an acquired taste that, as yet, I haven’t acquired. 😬

My mum has been a supporter of @BaiNiansg yong tau foo at People’s Park Complex Food Centre for years. Now, they have finally opened a branch in Jurong West which is great news for us since it’s near our place.

The ingredients include prawn balls, meat balls, bitter gourd, stuffed tau pok [a.k.a. bean curd puff] and bean curd rolls with fish paste that are well marinated and savory taste. However, the soup base is admittedly bland and fall short of expectations on the day of our visit. We hope this is just a one-off occasion and will make our return soon to give it a try again.
