Surprised to see that durians were still available in January. This durian pop up in NTUC Finest is only here on weekends. Their Mao Shan Wang durians were really good. Not too expensive and very very delicious. Flesh was creamy and thick, seeds were small too. Sometimes when they had more stock, I could get 2 boxes for $60.

I asked for fully cooked beef and was worried that it would be tough. No sir it was not! So tender and juicy, with lovely charred bits that added extra ooomph. I liked that the beef was cut into smaller pieces so the beef to rice ratio of each spoonful was just right. I cannot imagine being satisfied with the mini bowl. This was regular size spicy mentai bowl and I was so mesmerized by its goodness that I could gobble up another one. Hubby could not stop raving abt it the whole night and wanted this place to be put on our regular list. I give it a standing ovation. 👏

They gave us an extra onsen egg cos they broke it by accident before serving. Great service. I hope they break it every time! 😄

Truffle taste was strong and combined with the runny yolk and tender beef, I was so overcome I almost couldn’t breathe. This was one very excellent bowl I could eat everyday for the rest of my life.

This crispy cheesy pizza is perfect for breakfast, lunch or tea break. These are regularly sold out so when I see them it’s not uncommon for me to clear the whole tray. My whole family loves this. The abundant sesame seeds give a lovely fragrance and texture to the dough. It has been priced at $2.50 ever since I started buying it many years ago. It used to have 3 slices of tomatoes but now only has two. I still love it. Inflation gets everyone in the end I guess.

I have been eating this mango cake from Orchard Hotel for ten years, before the renovation of Claymore Connect and subsequent birth of Mon Bijou. It’s still the best mango cake ever. Smooth custardy mango mousse with mango cubes inside. Last time used to have only mango slices on top. Now they added assorted fruits. Just as good. And desiccated coconut on the sides to add texture.

Starting oct, they created 2 sizes for their signature fried rice. Medium ($10) and Large ($12). Of cos I must have the large! Oh my it was out of this world!! Squeeze in 5-6 fat raw garlic provided by the side and you will have fantastic garlic fried rice with char siew! I ❤️❤️❤️ this! The soup complemented the rice very well. 🤤

Oh this was a ramen after my own heart! ❤️❤️ Just smelling the grilled cheese emanating from the bowl made me drool 🤤 Mixing the poached egg with the gooey cheese gave me heart palpitations. How much more wonderful would this have tasted if they made it spicy! I couldn't stop smiling as I ate this. It was awesome. Hope they make this a permanent item on the menu.

One huge curry puff was only $1.90!!!! I've only just discovered this a few months ago and I'm in agony at wasting so many years of my life not eating this. I've been bringing my fur-baby to sunset way for more than 10 years and I've never found this treasure!!! 😭

This curry puff is now my favorite curry puff. And I will buy a big box whenever I come. Really spicy and jam packed with liao inside. One is enough for my lunch. ❤️❤️❤️

I've tried their chicken pie once (quarter). Very good!

How can I eat at Soup Restaurant w/o ordering this? As good as ever. So tender and succulent. I ❤️❤️❤️ the sauce. Made my day. 🤤

Never am I happier than to see the exact thing I'm craving for. This yummy chicken thigh with rice from Lam's Noodles was juicy and succulent. The chili was wonderful too. Very much like chicken rice chili, the sour tang was perfect for whetting my appetite.

This Wei Cun chicken ($14) is my must-order every time I go Long Beach. The sauce was vinegary and sweet, much like gu lou yok, but not ketchupy. I love it with rice! The chicken had skin on, which was so crispy. I also love the fried quail's eggs. You won't find this gem on the menu.

Long Beach is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. They serve great food at affordable prices. Always reliable. This roast pork was so succulent and had delicious crispy skin. Meat fat ratio was perfect. So juicy they always sell out fast. Grab them early!
