A popular restaurant in the centre of the tourist strip of Su Zhou city. Mainly because they were the first that came up w this sweet and sour fish and the Qing emperor frequently ate here. However I must say expectations exceeded reality.

This was not cheap, it was around sgd $30. The sauce looked tantalizing but the flavour did not go beyond the batter. There was barely any taste in the fish. I would say our local chain, putien does a better rendition...

Expect long but fast moving queues. Decide on your order before you reach the counter (the menu is hanging names behind the counter, the one at the door is bogus). Be ready for an unexpected experience of the fastest person wins. .

Anyway it’s just 16 yuan for a plate of 8. Oh and don’t expect spoons if you didn’t order soup. 😂
