Downstairs by Songfa Bak Kut Teh(a familiar brand to all SG folks that loves hot peppery bkt), a newly launched new F&B brand that focus on local traditional delicacies...

Newly opened on 31st Dec 2020, Downstairs is now located at B1-132, Suntec City’s Fountain Court, right next to Song Fa Bak Kut...

What about ‘Downstairs’? Oh well, we locals have this common thing in us that we always tell family or friends that we are going ‘downstairs’ to Dabao food and pop by a neighbouring coffee shop/hawker centre. You know what I mean right...

The décor of Downstairs really replicates a HDB void deck. There is a white stone chess table with blue & white mosaics with matching stone stools. Old orange phone booths that are now extinct in Singapore & they are order stations for you to key in your order but only debit & credit cards are accepted! Vintage or Hypebeast??? There are loads of retro letter boxes lined against the wall like the ones in HDB estates. You will be happy to know that not only the décor has a nostalgic old school feel, their food does too!

Our group of insane glutton at @thegastronomistz loves to uncover hidden gems in Singapore and have popped by Downstairs.

My personal favourites are the wanton mee, noodles was springy, you can also taste the charred of the char siew, only the wanton I felt can be better... and long-live my luncheon meat & egg toast... my one true love, bread was crispy toasted on the outside and fluffy on the inside...luncheon meat and sunny side-up were fried at its best... seems an easy snack to make at home but how many of us will do that right, what’s best? - the set comes with a local drink of your choice... Why not just jio your friends to Downstairs, sit back, relax, have some Kopi and Toast at an affordable price...

I have recently visited @ , (check out my IG story for the view - sky bistro tab) a true hidden gem, in the east of Singapore, suitable for any occasion but this round I would share with you on their Christmas 🎄 Feast that is so damn worth it first!!!

Surf & Turf Feast (for 4 pax) - in my context is more than enough for 5 of us, great for family gathers: $139.90 NETT for NSRCC member (plus another 10% service charge for non members)

🥩Roast Beef – Classic style whole cut beef roasted in gravy & root vegetables is my take here, roasted to my preferred doneness, sinewy and well-seasoned, totally my kind of meat...
🍖Festive Ham – Whole ham (800g) glazed with maple syrup & festooned with cloves, I can’t help it but I just wanna use slice of this sear with eggs, sandwich is garlic spread toast for the ultimate experience 😍😍😍
🍤Mediterranean Grilled Prawns – Prawns stuffed with Mediterranean fillings & topped with cheese

Newly opened Onkei situated at Paya Lebar Square comes from the idea of giving blessings that has a meaning of grace, kindness and blessing when translated in Mandarin.

What we had tried:

All the sets come with a bowl of Japanese white rice/multigrain rice, Japanese pickles, crunchy shredded cabbage and Tonjiru soup.

My catch here would be the Tonkatsu w Daikon Oroshi, the pork loin was nicely breaded and fried... doneness was satisfactorily loved w the daikon which gives a refreshing touch to finish... and soup being a side I was very much impressed by it...

Tonjiru soup – Tonktsu broth simmered with Japanese pork, konnyaku, Japanese beancurd skin, white & red carrots for over 12 hours - I really enjoyed this soup that I have to request for a 2nd serving of it 🥰

A plain omelette with truffle sauce... Is a order to cook on their breakfast buffet menu... No need to queue for your eggs here... Good service always enhance your dining experience...

It's been like a good 5 years I last visited Fat boys, still up keep their standard of their burgers... Good view, nice food and awesome service... Pricing starts from $16 onwards... Below $20/pax

I do order this dish every time my gfs says let's go miam miam... It's been like 2 years I last visited miam miam... The regular menu items are still around, taste the same... They have some rotating special items, but after choosing like for a good 30mins I end up having the same thing... Hahaa...

Is $21.90++ , not much promo till date... But if u like it... The same standard is still there...

Cocktails range from $17-23, love this place, jus beside the wine connection... Lovely handcrafted alcoholic drinks... Live band to enjoy your drink with...

The cod is done on point... Better than the steak we had 😂 nice ambience, good service... Definitely a good place for couples... Pricing wise is slightly higher than the regular mid-range...

Pretty pricey and pretty regular taste... But nice view and presentation...

Charcoal bun wrapped salted eggyolk custard... Eat it while is hot... So good... Any time for it... A bite and the custard flows out bursting lava... Not all restaurant serves a good one... This is really worth the money paid for...

Love the steak and chicken we had, by ordering a main @$19.80 (not inclusive of hat yet) u get a free flow salad bar... Includes eggs cooked in different methods, pasta salad, regular diy, desserts and fruits.

Love the coffee jelly especially! Must try if u haven't...

A weekly main for the restaurant's Executive Set Lunch... Honest opinion is damn worth the price of $29.90 (gst not included yet)

It comes with a free flow of salad bar items, soup and bread, 3 choices of mains (I chose the Lobster Penne Pasta) and for the finale with a choice of any tea or coffee (cold/hot)

If you are working at CBD, definitely is worth the visit...
