I ordered the sirloin steak with eggs that was grilled to perfection and a sauce on the side. The steak was so delectable I wished I had two portions to myself 😂

The restaurant also serves desserts which are endless so be sure to try them out too! I loved the sticky date pudding here 😋 my sweet tooth approves!

I ordered the bacon breakfast while BF had the honey ham.

I think the bacon was overly salty for my liking, too hard and didn’t go well with the bread. After all I just had my braces tightened, and the crispy bacon wasn’t helping at all 😞

We also ordered our all time favourite: sticky bread pudding which is coated with diabetes-inducing caramelised sugar. The eggs were cooked to perfection with its inside still soft and runny.

It’s a super no frills cafe so expect to share your table especially if you’re seated at the communal marbled tables. Help yourself to the serviettes and cutleries placed at the shelf near the windows.

Price wise; let’s just say it’s expected of Bukit Timah area 😬

We made use of BB’s awesome 1 for 1 deal to enjoy 2 medium rare steaks at Cali. We sat outside, so the service was slow. Attention given by staffs were also quite little - I thought they should have allocated at least a staff to be stationed outside and serve the customers sitting outdoors.

We went there for dinner so there was pretty much nothing to view. However we enjoyed the privacy at our table! Food was served quickly and the mushroom soup was creamy. Note that it doesn’t come with chunky mushrooms but pretty much felt like canned soup.

The sirloin steak was perfectly grilled to medium rare, served with a side of black pepper sauce.

Value for money: out of the world! Especially if you’re using BB
Taste: awesome
Portion: sufficient; would be better if it came with some sides
Ambience: Private, but expect slow service

The scrambled eggs were cooked to perfection. Sprinkle some salt to get a flavour punch! I didn’t fancy the patty though as there were some rubbery tendons (or soft bones?) in the meat. After awhile it also felt like there was a slight meat stench.

Looks: Super aesthetic
Taste: pretty decent
Value of money: not quite friendly to the wallet for people with tight budget (our bill totalled to be $54)
Ambience: small cafe with natural light
Portion: quite filling for a medium size girl 👧

I’m so sorry it seems like my food hunts haven’t been the most fulfilling. Perhaps the places I find haven’t been the most fantastic reviews (?)

Some might argue they love Open Farm Community. Well.. I do love the service and the ambience. The cafe is blessed with awesome views and greenery outside the glass walls.

The cafe was however closing in 30 mins for a private events and kind of rushed us. It wasn’t very nice, honestly. I felt like I didn’t have time to savour my expensive brunch.

Nonetheless, their food options aren’t extensive enough for my liking too. They didn’t have the things I like (cue: carb chant 🧘🏻‍♀️) which was very disappointing.

I ordered a pancake stake which came in a deck of 3 measly looking pancakes which a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It felt really pathetic to me considering its price tag.

Value of money? Absolutely not
For the gram? Yes for sure
Yummy? Yes, but not over the moon 🌚

We were unfortunately seated at the last table at the alfresco section, which we later realised was the worst decision of our lives. That aside, we had a beef burger and Chilli Soft-Shelled Crab Pasta. The spice was overpowering but thank god BF also ordered an extra mentaiko fries which came with Mentaiko mayo dips.

I only have the spice tolerance of xiaola for MLXG, so poor me had to mix some mentaiko mayo into my pasta to soften the spicy kick. The food took related long to arrive, and sadly, also arrived cold. Or rather, it was warm, not smoking hot.

Well I don’t usually expect my food to arrive smoking hot but obviously who likes to be served lukewarm food? ☹️

The place was awesome since they had a singer jamming old school favourites from Westlife and Backstreet boys. Those were the days of carefree life!

In my opinion, their pasta selection should have more options for carb-loving people like me. It’s perhaps because I love pasta so much that I expect restaurant to give us some luv sigh 😔

BF ordered the crispy crackle pork which is seriously artery-chocking and heart-attack inducing. NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED. As someone who adores pork, I felt that there was a little porky stench which made me feel like puking 🤮 however BF loved it so much he obviously cleaned the plate.

I ordered the Meatballs which were huge, and came with a base of mashed potatoes and baked cauliflower cheese. The chefs might be trying to innovate their menu but I didn’t fancy the cauliflower which was stuffed with weird cream. The melted cheese was great though because who rejects cheese?!! 🧀

They also include edible flowers which makes the dishes always so visually aesthetic.

10/10 recommended for people who _do it for the gram_ 💁🏻‍♀️

Total damage was about $54 in total, not wallet friendly 🙁

As the title says, I absolutely loved the prawn linguine cooked in white wine. The dish came with some nuts as well (so nut-allergic diners please be careful!🚨).

The linguine was carefully sautéed to perfection with thinly sliced garlic. Despite being someone who fears garlic breath, I still enjoyed the dish very much. Just be sure to wash down the garlic breath with something strong like their coffee 🤷🏻‍♀️

Price isn’t very wallet-friendly but considering the location and demographic of the residential area, I guess it’s ok?

Good place to hangout if you’re attending any art workshops in Goodman Arts Centre! There’s also a field for kids to run about and a bouncy castle for them to play with. Families with children will be happy to be there.

We sat outside, which can get pretty stuffy if it’s a sunny day.

Diners take note: FOOD TAKES FOREVER TO COME. STAFFS TAKE FOREVER TO COME TO YOU. Suggestion to decide on what you want even before you get seated 🤷🏻‍♀️ estimated waiting time: 30 mins for food

As for the food, BF ordered the Cafe Melba breakfast, which comes with a nice variety of ingredients. I would have preferred scrambled eggs to over easy eggs though!

I ordered the Carbonara with Onsen Egg, which was delectable at the start but got jelat after a while. BF was more than happy to clear it for me ☺️

They don’t have much pasta options, so unless you’re craving for burgers and breakfasts, not recommended for pasta-lovers.

I love the ambience at Pacamara. It looks like a white fade filter has been painted on it when you enter the cafe. Think white furnitures, soft coffee house beats playing and the sound of coffee grinding in the back. Mild chattering and occasional laughters in the background.

I love it! Food-wise, their service is great. Food is served promptly. We ordered the truffle fries (I believe $12) which is a huge bowl of fries and truffles thrown on top.

I also ordered the White Russian Latte (with a shot of alcohol, Irish cream I think?) which was really smooth and fragrant.

Too bad it’s not on Burpple Beyond else it would have been a really fantastic deal.

We ordered: Beef Bolognese, Alfredo and Iced Latte, Sprite

While looking for a cafe nearby with free wifi, I chanced upon Lowercase. The atmosphere is homey and cosy, with warm lights in the room.

The area has a wide glass window on the first storey, blessing it with much natural light. The cafe is filled with comfy sofas and plenty of proper sitting chairs for those who’d like to mug for exams. There is a bookshelf of books and a mini stage which looked like it was formerly used for gig nights - it is now filled with tables and chairs on it too.

The staffs are friendly, and there are a variety of options for diners. The pastas were priced at an average of $16 which was relatively pricey, given that they were mostly vegetarian - making the takeaway rice bowls that are super affordable at $6.50. Limited options available for rice bowls though. We topped up $2 to get coffee for the lunch set as well, making the total bill $18.

The beef bolognese got a little boring for my tastebuds after a few mouthfuls. The portion is just fine. The Alfredo tasted better, without the “jelat” feeling that my friend was dreading!

Latte was a little too astringent for my liking, but adding the sugar syrup helped. The staffs were friendly and warm :)

They accept Favepay as well! #cashback 😋

Overall, I love the ambience. It’s perfect for chilling on a lazy afternoon or mugging with friends, but couples may find it intrusive as the tables are placed quite close to each other. I figured the noise may become too loud for some people during peak hours since it’s an enclosed area.

Price-wise, I wouldn’t pay that money to have that kind of food. I’d rather have some Chinese food outside the cafe before popping by to do some work or reading!
