This homely cafe is known for its hearty and affordable rice bowls. For first-timers, a must-have is the Minced Pork Scrambled Eggs Rice (RM13) that is just as satisfying as it sounds. Fluffy rice is blanketed with perfectly scrambled eggs, minced pork and bonito flakes. If you're here on the weekend, you must try the Omelette with Pork Belly (RM20) – a buttery-smooth omelette with glazed pork belly and sourdough bread. Wash your meal down with a fruity Long Black (RM8) made with Artisan Roast beans.

It's been four years now, and this cosy spot in Bandar Mahkota Cheras still rakes in the crowds for their hearty meals, friendly service and excellent coffee. Splurge on Filter Coffee (from RM20) featuring beans from around the world — you won’t regret it. To fill the tummy, order tasty snacks like the Ham and Cheese Panini (RM18) that sees generous layers of mozzarella and cheddar cheese with turkey ham, or the Hearty Chicken Pot Pie (RM13). On sweets, try the community-favourite Friendship Cake (RM10) — a fluffy jasmine-infused chiffon cake served with coffee caramel sauce.

Find this cool coffee bar in Taman Shamelin Perkasa serving topnotch brews. It's super chill on weekdays – perfect for getting work done over a cuppa. The Filter Coffee (RM13) will please any coffee lover with the wide selection of beans to choose from such as Honduras and Kenya. The spot-on Batch Brew (RM8) sports a light and fruity flavour profile that’s a great pick-me-up. If you're hungry, you won't go wrong with the savoury Beef Bolognese Pasta (RM18) or Smoked Beef Strip sandwich (RM16).

Let the talented team at this stylish cafe fix you right up this weekend for brunch. It's a spacious spot, so unwind with a friend over yummy plates like the Salmon & Avocado Breakfast (RM26) and the Thai Basil Minced Pork Pasta (RM20). For something sweet, order Luscious (RM22), homemade waffle served with matcha ice cream and homemade granola. Aside from regular coffees, they also do flavoured lattes well. Try the sweet Rose Latte (from RM12), or the Bentong Ginger Latte (from RM12) with soft hints of gingery spice.

Yes, this coffee bar IS located in the owner's grandpa's home. Pro tip: Look for a grey gate with colourful paper chimes hanging on it. Drip coffee runs the show with decent selection to choose from. On our visit, we spotted Sumatran (RM12) and Costa Rica (RM19) beans. We also like the milk-based Ah Gong Blend (RM12) that's not too creamy and naturally sweet. It's made sans an espresso machine! The barista uses a Moka pot to heat up the milk and a hand frother to create milk foam – very cool.

You’ll find the perfect pairing of dessert and coffee at this hip cafe near Sunway Velocity Mall. Raved highly by the Burpple community is the French Earl Grey Bubble Milk Tea Cake (RM25) that is best paired with an Americano (RM10). Think soft Earl Grey-infused chiffon cake stuffed with Earl Grey custard, topped with sea salt cheese milk foam and handmade boba. Burppler Joey Tin’s advice when digging into this masterpiece is to get each element in every bite. Ps. This cake is available in several sizes – perhaps for the next birthday celebration?

This cute cafe in Medan Connaught is great for team lunch over coffee, pasta and sandwiches. Order the Signature Salted Egg Chicken Mantou (RM20) featuring three mantou buns stuffed with crispy chicken, doused in a sweet-savoury salted egg sauce and finished with a dollop of tobiko (fish roe). The pastas are popular too, and Creamy Mushroom & Bacon Pasta (RM16) is a solid meal for one. Save tummy space for dessert! The housemade Yam and Vanilla cake (RM12) is great with the creamy Flat White (RM10). Pro tip: There's a 20 cents charge for takeaway cups, so bring your own tumblers!

Here’s one for the tea drinkers! Spend weekend mornings with a friend sipping on fresh brews at this beautiful tea bar. You’ll find a variety of Green, White and Oolong teas on the menu, like the fruity Yi Shi Xiang (oolong, RM13). Also look out for the ice-cold and fizzy Nitro Kombucha (from RM12) with soft hints of hojicha that's a great thirst quencher on hot days. Spot creative tea-infused dishes on the food menu too! The Cha- Bagel (from RM12) with matcha cream cheese and the Cha-Croissants (RM10) made with matcha from Kyoto are both delightful.
