𝐊𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐤𝐮 means “𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘪𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘰𝘰𝘥” in Japanese, to which I really did as I polished off the bowl of Truffle Ramen Dry.

An alluring fragrance of truffles came wafting through the air right when the bowl of ramen was served onto our table. The 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐥𝐞 𝐑𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐃𝐫𝐲 consists of 𝙃𝙖𝙠𝙖𝙩𝙖-𝙨𝙩𝙮𝙡𝙚 𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙣 topped with 𝙖𝙣 𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙚𝙣 𝙚𝙜𝙜, 𝙗𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙛𝙛𝙡𝙚 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 and 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙛𝙛𝙡𝙚 𝙤𝙞𝙡, and complete with 𝙨𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙙 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙨𝙝𝙪. The chashu slices were flavorful and tender as they were marinated for over 4 hours. There were subtle hints of charred taste as the chashu slices were blow-torched before being served. I really like how every strand of noodles here were well-coated with truffle aroma!

Next, I tried the 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐥𝐞 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐑𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧 as well. As they boiled the broth for over 8 hours, it’s no surprise that a thick, creamy and flavorful broth results. The broth was of suitable thickness whereby you could enjoy it without feeling jelat.

I personally prefer the dry version as it boasts a stronger truffle taste. If you’re a fan of truffles, don’t miss this out!

Despite it’s hidden location, @kurasusg draws a pretty large crowd when I visited on a weekend afternoon. @kurasusg has a simple minimalistic interior design that exudes a comfortable, relaxing and homely ambience.

I got myself 2 cups of 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐩 𝐂𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐞 (𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙢𝙗𝙞𝙖 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙀𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙤𝙥𝙞𝙖) from their 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐩 𝐂𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. Both cups had a clean, sweet and floral finish but I personally prefer the Ethiopia coffee which boasts a stronger fruity flavor.

Bask in the chill vibes of the cosy minimalistic space and enjoy a good cup of hand drip coffee or a glass of iced cold brew. It will definitely chase your monday blues away!

Tastes alike to cold ramen/pasta. Really enjoyed the truffle fragrance in each springy strand of noodles as well as the added crunch from fhe crisp ebi.

Helmed by a secret nameless chef that specialises in Binchotan cooking techniques, @namonaki21 introduces an element of surprise into their dishes, presenting the usual Izakaya favourites in a refreshing manner.

With the aim to redefine Japanese Izakaya, @namonaki21 offers unconventional creations such as the 𝐔𝐧𝐢 𝐅𝐨𝐢𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐬 𝐓𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢. I am super amazed by this creation as the different ingredients harmonize together into fireworks in my mouth! This is a definite must-order when you’re at @namonaki21 !

Another not-to-be-miss creation to highlight is the 𝐍𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐤𝐢 𝐔𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐢 𝐊𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐤𝐢. They are super generous with the unagi slices! Thick slices of grilled eel topped the crisp and toasted bread. Well-grilled and seasoned, the firm and tender eel goes really well with the crisp and crunchy bread. Love the play on textural contrast!

For meat lovers, their 𝐖𝐚𝐠𝐲𝐮 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐢 was grilled perfectly - well-grilled on the outside and tender on the inside. With a good amount of fats, it boasts a bold flavor.

@namonaki21 has a cosy ambience and interior that’s suitable for a chill hang-out with friends and colleagues.

Having been around for more than 50 years with carefully curated recipes passed down for generations, @huphup.co dishes are the perfect comfort food on a rainy day, from 𝐌𝐞𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐚𝐦 to 𝐋𝐚𝐤𝐬𝐚 and 𝐋𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐞.

As for 𝐋𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐞, the bowl of noodles was drenched in a thick, starchy gravy and topped with a heap of ingredients such as slices of braised pork belly, ngor hiang, fried fishcakes and a split hard-boiled egg. I particularly like the braised pork belly which was tender and flavorful with a firmness to it.

Next, was the steaming bowl of 𝐋𝐚𝐤𝐬𝐚 topped with cockles, fish cakes and a split hard-boiled egg. The coconut broth was rich and fragrant but I personally wish it could pack a stronger kick!

Giving their 𝐌𝐞𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐚𝐦 a try, I realised their gravy tastes a little different from the usual, which suits my palate really well. It’s creamy due to the addition of fresh coconut milk and has a strong savoury peanut fragrance. The generous bowl of vermicelli noodles was topped with beansprouts, fried beancurd and a hard-boiled egg on the side. Squeeze a little lime juice into the bowl of Mee Siam for a refreshing lift!
