love their mochi breads so i had to try their newest flavour. as usual, the bread was chewy and fluffy and the mochi had the perfect stretchy consistency ✨ the matcha cream cheese filling wasn’t really to my liking but i think this is purely personal preference! this bun would appeal more to those who prefer a milder matcha flavour as the cream cheese taste was a lil overpowering imo. but plus points for it not being too sweet!!
the yam paste was thick with taro chunks 🍠 just that slightly too sweet for me bc i have 0% sugar tastebuds but still an acceptable siew-dai level. liked that they used walnuts instead of gingko nuts! added nuttiness and crunch which complemented the yam filling. the crust however was a little disappointing as it was too crumbly and lacked the buttery fragrance one would expect.
my absolute fav bread from duke bakery!!!! the bread itself is kinda plain but the black ssm filling more than makes up for it!! i LOOOVE the grainy texture hehe and it’s super fragrant and has a slight crunch 🤩 read some reviews that the filling is too sweet but i actually thought the sweetness level is perfect and i’m a 0% sugar kinda person 😳
heard it’s the best banana pies in sg so i had to try it! love how it’s not overly rich or sweet. the pie crust was firm yet crumbly at the same time and the buttery fragrance really complemented the sweet banana filling. also loved the added fragrance and texture from the coconut shavings and chopped nuts on top. truly a slice of goodness 🍌🥧
mochi cheese: can’t find any fault with this omg this had the perfect mochi texture — not too runny or thick, and goes super well with the savoury cheese cubes 🤤 also possibly the only bread w generous fillings in this collection 🤣
so yammy: the idea of a savoury yam bun sounded unique but it kinda fell flat for me. the filling tasted quite similar to what you’d find in curry puffs but i loved the texture of the turnip/yam cubes!!
puff & peaks are known for their donuts, but their cinnamon roll deserves some love too!!!! 🤍 definitely one of the better ones out there! super soft and fluffy and not too sweet. thought the sugar granules would be overkill but i surprisingly enjoyed the textural contrast they added against the fluffy bread 🥰 would be perfect if it were more cinnamony!!!
one of the more expensive bakes there but it was a total letdown. good things first: they were v generous with the pear cubes and the cake was not too sweet which i appreciate! sounds like all’s good until i ate some bites that were bitter (not in a pleasant way) from the yuzu. i could still overlook this but the biggest disappoint was the texture — overly moist and to the extent of being wet and soggy-ish 😥 recipe definitely needs some tweaking!!
that being said, i still really love their donuts and cinnamon rolls so i’d go back for them. just skip the cakes, or maybe only this one in particular.
loooove the soft spongy texture👌🏻 moist yet super light and bursting with banana flavour, i could easily finish the thick slice! slightly sweeter than i’d prefer but definitely a good affordable and fuss-free option for when you’re too lazy to bake your own!
not that big a fan of akk but these pistachio akk were BOMBZ, tq to whoever thought of creating these gems 😚 generously filled with pistachio which has a REALLY distinct nutty fragrance. despite it being pricey at $2/piece, it’s worth every cent!!!
and clearly i’m not the only one who thinks so bc this seasonal flavour just became permanent!
went for the egg tarts but THIS was surprisingly impressive. smooth and lightly sweetened yam filling which was really fragrant, encased within a v soft and fluffy bun 🍞 there really is nothing to dislike
picked this up because it looked hefty and had the bestseller tag! it’s not written in the name but it actually had cheese on top and tastes like a cheese bread, with some cranberry and walnut bits inside. i liked the cranberries which lent a slight sweetness that matched well with the savoury cheese! wish there were more walnuts tho bc i can count the number of them with one hand 😔
if you like tausarpiah, you should try this!!! it’s essentially the salty tsp filling encased in a soft fluffy bread. unlike regular tsp which can get quite dry after eating a few, the paste in this is sufficiently moist and has the perfect balance of sweet savoury without being too jelak. doesn’t look like it here but they were so generous w the fillings that i actually wished there was more bread for a better bread-to-filling ratio. other than that, this is definitely one of the better salted mung bean bread around
