Tried this at the newly opened Mr Holmes Bakehouse in MYP Centre! Ngl everytime I look at it, it just reminds me of peppa pig oink oink yum yum sorry peppa. This bagel is a collab between Two Men Bagel House and Mr Holmes Bakehouse and I believe it'll only be available until the end of the month. It comes with ham, cream cheese and jam sandwiched between two bagel pieces.
Just look at that generous amount of ham, dang 😛 combining ham with cream cheese and jam is something that I would normally judge the hell out of but trust me when I say that somehow, this works. The ham isn't overly salty or meaty, which makes it complement the sweet cream cheese and jam pretty nicely. The ham does overwhelm the other elements a little, but everything still balances out well.
Doubt I'd get it again for $16 but was def worth a try.

Ahh the super famous (and super expensive) Matcha Lava Cube from Asanoya! Finally decided to get it since I had a voucher. Here are my thoughts:
The matcha filling is EXCEPTIONAL. It's seriously SO GOOOOOD, nicely sweet with a white chocolate, kinda milky flavour to it while still retaining a pretty strong matcha taste. The bread is soft and chewy, really good!
However $4.20 for such a small bread is definitely a super hefty price. This is one of the most expensive breads I've bought. I think that taste-wise, it's quite comparable to Donq's and St Leaven's, which are bigger and also cheaper. I'd rather get those again than this.
However I'm def super impressed by this bun and I'd gladly try Asanoya's lava breads again!

Part 1 of my The Hainan Story bread haul is finally here! Got this on @pickupp.sg , use my code 《BREADINOSAUR》 for $5 off a $14 min spend 😘 this bun comes with a thin crust of coffee polo on top of a soft bread filled with nutella.
Imma be honest, this is overpriced. The size is similar to that of those little 6pc conjoined rolls you get at neighbourhood bakeries. Basically, it is tinyyyyy for $1.90. I really adore the softness of the bread and the nutella filling but there's not much about it that's special enough to warrant a $1.90 price tag, especially since Nutella is a common ingredient that you could easily find in any supermarket to DIY your own nutella roll.
The unique part of this bun should have been the crispy coffee cookie on top but unfortunately, that fell short too. The coffee crust is painfully thin and due to how meagre the amount was, I could barely even taste the coffee aroma :(
This bun looked and sounded super delicious so unfortunately it was a let down. Given how obsessed I am with nutella and coffee buns, I think this bread could be drastically improved if the coffee crust were made thicker like a polo bun, because imagine how bomb it would be if it was like a coffee polo with nutella filling holy WOWZ. Also pls be bigger because I swear I could have devoured this in a single bite 😭

I really like Honolulu Cafe's polo buns, given how the cookie crusts are crunchy and sweet with an adequate fragrance to them. However, my gripe with them would be the dryness of the interior of the bread, and Honolulu Cafe has successfully found a delicious way to override the dryness: by adding everyone's favourite icy treat, ice cream!
The polo bun comes with 3 scoops of taro ice cream and 2 pocky sticks. Although the ingredients are simple, they're constructed in a way that makes this polo bun look certifiably atas. With the addition of the ice cream, the bread did not taste dry at all. The polo top was crispy and sweet, though the sweetness of the ice cream did drown out a bit of the cookie fragrance, so I'd prefer to eat them separate.
The ice cream has a pretty evident taro taste, though a gripe I have with it would be the overly icy texture, which was a bit of a mix between ice kacang and actual ice cream. Generally that did not diminish the taro flavour but I'm personally a fan of creamier ice creams.
OMG Swee Heng has done it again 👌👌 I wasn't expecting much from this bun cuz it felt really light but thankfully, it was generously filled with coconut 😋
The black sugar coconut filling was super fragrant and the fragrance was only enhanced by the pandan leaf. It released such a lovely smell after being microwaved 😛😛 this bun is SO good!! Worth the hype!

I've discovered that yam and chicken floss seems to be a very popular bread combo, but it sounded quite odd to me to combine the two. Still, my heart belongs to any kind of floss bread so I decided to try it out.
The yam and chicken floss went surprisingly really well together, like pineapple on pizza (yes I will forever be a proud supporter of pineapple on pizza, thank you very much. Odd, yes, but IT WORKS) and the fillings are really well distributed and rather generous! I was shooketh.
What once sounded like a strange combination to me is now one that I will actively look out for when I go bread shopping. I declare that I have been converted to a yam-floss combo worshipper 👏👌

As usual, loved the chicken floss! It was soft, slightly sweet and slightly salty, and melts in the mouth. It's a pretty simple bread and there's nothing super wow about it cuz there's just a single slice of ham inside and a tiny bit of cheese on top (taste isn't all that prominent) but it still works pretty well. Would love if there was more cheese on top and maybe a little bit of egg cream inside!
This bread is pretty simple but really good! The cross section doesn't look super wow but the flavours are definitely there, with a nice amount of crispy parmesan cheese on top of the bun and a bit of melty cheese inside the bun. It's not too salty and slightly sweet from the mayo thing on top.
A really good, classic bread!

I've had plenty of floss buns in my life, but never one with egg mayo inside •O•
Anyways this bun is pretty good! The floss and mayo, being slightly sweet and slightly salty, is a super classic combo. The egg mayo part was a dollop in the middle of the bun, and I quite liked it. There wasn't a super strong egg taste but it was enough to distinguish it from a regular floss bun. I think it would work better if the egg was better spread out across the bun though, instead of being situated in the centre but still a great bun!

I don't eat otah because I don't eat seafood, so I would never have bought this bun on my own accord. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this bun! The otah doesnt have any fishy taste. It's really soft and nicely spiced. The other toppings on the bread also add layers of flavour to the bun. The bread is suuuper soft and fluffy! This bun has made me reconsider my stance on otah. Though I still wouldn't willingly eat it, I'd definitely give it a shot when paired with bread 😋

Anyways this is a really great donut! The cookie crumble on top is generous and there's not a lot of white chocolate, which is actually great because the donut isn't too sweet. I've had donuts in the past that were just a little too generous with the chocolate such that it felt like I was eating straight sugar lol but yeah this donut has a good amount of chocolate.
Wasn't too excited for this bread at first cuz it's just a baguette with butter in it, according to the description. Well I can safely say that I was super wrong about how it would taste because this vienna is pretty good!! The butter has some sugar in it, like those Sunshine butter rolls, making it sweet and more enjoyable to eat than just straight butter in bread.
The vienna is supposed to be eaten straight from the fridge, unlike the other buns being sold. Decided to be a rebel and tried half cold and the other half toasted.
Cold - quite surprised at how the bread was still really soft and chewy despite the refrigeration, because most bread becomes stale and hard. Really love that! The sugar butter mix is sweet and buttery (uhhh idk how else to describe) and overall it's a real great quick breakfast for those who find it too time consuming to heat your breads.
Toasted - the baguette retains it's chewy nature, and the toasting gives it an added crunch. Ofc the consistency of the butter sugar filling changes as the butter melts, but it's still really good!
