[KL, MALAYSIA] Another stall near the KL chilli pan mee is this Yong tau foo stall, that sells pieces at RM 2 each and chee chong fun at RM 1.5 each.

I got a variety, and 1 thing I noticed was that the size of the pieces were easily twice of that in Singapore and they were stuffed full of meat fillings!

My few favourites got to be the eggplant and fresh tofu. Although sinfully oily, the fried eggplant was very flavourful and I love how a crispy crust is formed around the meat fillings. On the contrast, the fresh tofu was very clean tasting, but it was so soft and silky smooth that you know is really freshly made. All pieces were in a very clean tasting soup that was really comforting.

The chee chong fun is worth a mention as well, as it was generously drenched in sweet savoury sauce and shallot oil. The pieces of chee chong fun were silky smooth and chewy as well!

Overall a very hearty meal that I wish I can have it almost every day. Can't wait to explore more hawker food in Malaysia in my next trip!

[KL, MALAYSIA] We heard about this beautiful aesthetic cafe with really good food and coffee, and true enough the food and vibes here was amazing! We tried many dishes, but there were some that stood out to me:

Truffle Butter Steak (RM 30.90) - first thing you notice is that they do their crossiants really well as it was light and flaky, but yet rich and buttery. Sandwiched between the gorgeous crossiant is a generous amount of beef steak slices and caramelised onions, all made even richer with truffle butter. Fries were amazing too as they stayed rather crispy and fluffy in the inside even when they get cold!

Rendang Pasta (RM 23.90) - their rendition of this fusion dish worked so well, as they did a great sauce and chose the right pasta type. The Rigatoni pasta were wonderfully Al dente and they caught all the beautifully rich umami sauce. I think the great balance between sweet and savoury, coupled with the meatiness of the minced beef is what that impressed me. Wonderful!

Iced Rose Latte (RM 16.90) - smooth and aromatic, the touch of rose syrup did not overpower the coffee notes and did not taste artificial. A great blend of floral and aromatic flavours that gave a wonderful finish to the palette.

Overall all dishes we tried were really good and we had such a wonderful time here. Will be back definitely @sekalf.my

[KL, MALAYSIA] Wanted to find a place to hide from the heat, and we managed to find this cozy space!

I had the Passionfruit yogurt gelato (RM 11) which was perfect for the hot weather. Very refreshing, the Gelato had the right amount of sour notes coupled with citrius flavours from the passionfruit. Although they gave a big amount, I wiped it clean easily!

Finally had KL chilli pan mee in KL, and it was such a good one!

You will be able to find this humble traditional pan mee stall within the coffeeshop of Restoran Le Kwang. The stall owner shared with me that she cooks her own chilli sauce and it's definitely one of the most flavourful ones I've had!

The Chilli Pan Mee (RM 9.50) came with several ingredients including mushroom, minced pork and loads of fried anchovies. The noodles within were generously tossed in their homemade chilli sauce, and it wasn't really spicy but yet packed full of umami richness from the dried shrimp used. The noodles were chewy, al dente, and had the perfect texture! Though it was early morning, I wiped the bowl very clean.

This is one bowl I will crave probably almost every day 😍 will definitely make a trip to this place to eat again!
