The congee is very good, and served with a great variety of proteins: fish of different kinds, frog legs, pork liver, etc. However, due to poor management , service is a disaster. Two congees ordered at the same time, but one arrived 10 minutes after the other. At a table next to us, it arrived after the other customers had finished theirs. Should be located at a hawker centre rather than as a member of Les Amis group at Shaw!

We came back to Shinjii after over 12 years, and frankly that was a letdown. The food and service were good, but frankly underwhelming, compared to other top sushi restaurants in Singapore, like Ki-sho, Ashino when it was still operating, or even Jinhonten. We had the Omakase Wa for dinner, and it was not good value at $350++. No memorable signature dish. They even forgot to offer parking voucher (which didn’t even cover the full cost of parking for the duration of the meal!)

Good variety of different Chinese cuisines. The Xiao long bao and chopped pork fried rice is not as good as Din Tai Fung, and the sichuan dishes at Sichuan Dou Hua are much better, but the food here is good enough. Service is good and prices are reasonable for Orchard Rd location. No wonder it’s always packed at weekends.

This is the only Crystal Jade with a Michelin star, and it’s a notch above the crystal jade stainless steel palace takashimaya, both in terms of food quality and ambiance. Avoid the Peking Duck though, it is mediocre compared to Imperial Treasure on the same floor of Paragon. Service is attentive, but incredibly slow and with mistakes.
