Also known as Indian rojak, this dish can be commonly found in Penang.

While many tourists would try it at Gurney Drive Hawker Centre, there’s also some popular stalls that locals like to visit.

Particularly this roadside stall at Beach Street, located along Union Street. Kareem Pasembur has been selling for many years, catering to those who working around.

Firstly you need to choose some of the fried items to go with. Many people would recommend you the prawn fritter.

Then they will cut them into pieces and topped with sweet chili sauce and some veggie.

This food truck is one of them you can find behind GAMA Department Store, just beside KOMTAR.

Many locals would drop by here to grab a bowl of warm dessert, which they called it bubur, porridge in English. But it is definitely not the porridge you would imagine.

Ali Bubur served only a few types of porridge dessert including this pulut hitam, which is the black glutinous rice you would familiar with.

Sweet and comforting dessert you can find from Ali Bubur. Add a scoop of glutinous rice like mine to complete it.

When you walk along the popular street of George Town at the Armenian Street, you definitely want to drop by this cosy place for some softserve dessert by Ludwig Softserve.

They have been serving it for many years in Penang and still going strong for their softserve offerings.

Look for what flavours they have for the day and go with either in cup or cone.

Howaitokuren Japanese Restaurant is a family oriented place at this quiet neighbourhood in Tanjung Bungah.

Many family would come here for their family home cooked in Japanese style. But of course, they also served decent Japanese foods as well from sushi, noodle to rice.

The curry wasn’t too spicy and delicious with the crispy pork katsu.

Penang is not lack of cafes and every places could serve pretty similar items on the menu. But this place at Bayan Lepas that just opened recently has something unique in their menu.

Kōyō Coffee at The One inspired by the Japanese snacks, while serving coffee and tea as well.

I don’t think that’s many cafes in Penang that serve dango and mochi.

The dango is pretty similar to what I have tried back in Japan. Every order of dango comes in 2 skewers, which you can choose different topping. I love the goma and matcha.

As for the Isobe Yaki Mochi, it is a pan fried potato mochi coated with sweet soy sauce.

For the drink, I recommend this refreshing Koyo Lemonade with espresso shot.

Continue searching for some of the decent seafood restaurants in Penang, and this place at Batu Lanchang is also popular among the locals.

記得來三定海鮮大排檔 or Ji De Lai San Ding (JDLSD) Seafood Stall is hidden in a housing estate, but always full house and many people would made their reservation prior.

Famous for their fresh seafood that sourced from the sea naturally, and not from fish farm.

Their dishes are available in different cooking style which you can choose from.
