Guide Features of Good Food at Pete's Place (Grand Hyatt Singapore)

For an intimate family gathering, look to this rustic Italian joint located in the basement of Grand Hyatt. Feast to your heart's content with the Full Italian Lunch Buffet ($40), from made-to-order wood-fired oven pizzas to freshly baked breads. Burppler MichelleLIN T recommends the Capricciosa Pizza – think fresh mushrooms, artichokes and forest ham on a chewy yet crusty base. Desserts here are are stellar as well, such as the Chocolate Fondant with Cherries and the Ricotta Cheese Tart.

Tucked away inside the Grand Hyatt Singapore, Pete's Place is the perfect place for family gatherings. We love the warm and cosy atmosphere, and how touches like checked tablecloths and brick walls bring about the atmosphere of an Italian tavern. The recent menu revamp introduces their new 48-hour pizza dough, made using a recipe that allows the yeast to settle more evenly, resulting in a lighter, more flavourful crust. The flavour combinations here are classic and fail-safe — you'd do well with the simple Magherita ($18) or the punchy Diavola ($24), topped generously with tomato sauce, mozzarella, Italian pepperoni, bell peppers and fennel seeds. The clear winner however is the dreamy Pizza Burrata ($26). Made with a lusciously savoury tomato sauce base, fresh basil and anchovies, the pizza is then topped with fresh burrata cheese as soon as it comes out of the wood-fired oven — yum! Save space for the Tiramisu ($16). The portion is good to share among four, and is one of the tastiest and well-balanced renditions of the Italian dessert we've had. Pro tip: Visit between 6 to 7pm daily to enjoy a free salad (DIY from the counter) with every main ordered!

Come hungry for the ultimate carbo-loading at this cosy Italian restaurant in the heart of town. Hidden in the basement of Grand Hyatt, Pete's Place oozes rustic charm with its lovely checkered table cloths, wood-fired oven and bare brick walls. They serve great pastas and pizzas for dinner, but it's their pocket-friendly lunch buffet you should come for. Go for the buffet with mains, ($35, there's a soup and salad only option for $28) where you get unlimited helpings of their excellent thin crust pizzas and simple yet flavourful pastas, on top of soup and salad. The soup, pizza and pasta flavours rotate daily, so you'll get a refreshed spread each time you're back here. Help yourself to their freshly baked breads, breadsticks and cured meats before moving on to soups. The selection may not be as extensive as others, but rest assured you're getting quality over quantity at this feast. When the carbs prove too much to handle, try the cooked food like the tasty Chicken Balsamico and Braised Beef, and end the two-and-a-half hour buffet with a treat or two from the dessert table!
