On the milder spectrum of spicy, the greenpapaya salad was nevertheless bright and fresh. Go for this if you enjoy your Som Tum sweet and with less heat.

The rustic presentation is a delight and within you'll find a very refreshing, smooth coconut ice cream bursting with the natural sweetness of the fruit. In addition, there's an abundance of chewy atap seeds, slippery sea coconut, crunchy peanuts and nata de coco jelly. Definitely worth a stop for if you are in the area and dying from the heat.

Wonderful broth with great depth of flavour and a healthy heaping of meat. Once luxe for its time, the restaurant with its gauche faux French decor and the shopping centre it's located in have obviously seen better times, but the food still draws in the well heeled locals. Obviously this is by far more expensive than your street boat noodles, but I don't mind paying considering the portion, quality and setting.
