Teochew Porridge This is the place to go if you are looking for reasonably priced Teochew porridge with a wide variety of dishes to select from. Taste-wise they are neither the best nor the worst. It’s just a decent and simple place to go for a no-frills Teochew porridge meal. Dishes that I have tried are minced pork with fermented black beans, braised pork belly, braised pig skin, handmade fish cake and preserved vegetables. These dishes are relatively standard except for the pig skin which was not braised well enough and quite tough in texture 》$18.20

Egg & Ham Omelette Set The egg & ham omelette was made using a tortilla wrap that was pan toasted and filled with egg omelette and ham. It tasted quite bland and pricey at $6.20. Making it a set, I added a hashbrown and a cup of kopi siu dai for an additional $1 each. Hashbrown was served hot and slightly crispy but looked and tasted similar to the frozen Farmland hashbrown. Kopi siu dai was at least decent and thick.

Putu Mayam - A Traditional Item That Is Getting Harder To Find Putu Mayam was a childhood favourite breakfast item of mine. I think it‘s how it is eaten—tearing up a bite-size piece of the stringy rice flour pancake at a time, dabbing it in the neon bright orange sugar and sprinkling on the freshly grated coconut—that had me so enthusiastic. The simplicity of its taste was also a draw. Nowadays, when I get a craving, I visit “G.S. Oli Thosei and Food Stall“ at Geylang Serai Market for my fix. Besides their ultra-fine-strand Putu Mayam, they also do a very good Appam, as well as Thosai (the made-to-order cheese and egg one that Burppler Jayne Tan ordered was fabulous). Early risers can also try the stall’s Roti Jala. I have not yet had it myself because unfortunately, it’s always sold out by the time I’m there.

Decent mochi waffles Finally tried @doqoosg 's famous mochi waffles and it was pretty decent! I think it's a great snack to have but there's no need to travel far and wide for it 😂 The Chocolate Mochi Waffles ($3.50) was surprisingly not so sweet, with a pretty deep chocolate flavour in the waffles. When eaten hot fresh out of the pan, the waffles had a slightly crispy exterior, soft fluffy centre and the mochi within was very stretchy 😍 definitely best eaten on the spot, the texture of the whole combination wouldn't be great when cold. The mochi itself does not have much flavour, so they mostly contributed through its chewy texture. A great snack to have if you are around the area!

Chocolate Belgian Waffles w Mochi ($3.40) I felt that their waffles was quite crispy on outer but mochi was quite chewy and not that hard or stretchy. Chocolate taste not much tbh.

Mee Rebus One of the better mee rebus around for its delicious, slurp-worthy gravy! It was viscous without being overly rich (unlike others we’ve tried), and swelled with notes of shrimp, flower crab, and mutton. Truly delightful! The indulgent gravy nicely coated the yellow noodles with lime, herbs, sliced green chilli, and beansprouts served on the side for crunch and texture. Do consider adding on their soft taukwa or begedil (+50c) to soak up any leftover gravy!

Mee Rebus This is probably one of the best Mee Rebus that I have ever had. The gravy was rich and thick and was absorbed well by the noodles. A confusing but pleasant mixture of sweet and savoury, it's a good perk me up indeed!

Instead of one of their tremendous thin crust pizzas, I went for their luxurious lasagna this go around. Wine Connection’s hearty homemade beef lasagna normally costs $16.90 as part of the set, but do you really expect an alcoholic like me to eat lasagna without a glass of wine on deck? Why yes OF COURSE I WILL be having a glass of merlot for an extra five dollars, yes please and thank you.⠀ ⠀ Wine Connection might be perceived as a slightly upper class watering hole, but their chefs are more than up to the task of producing fantastic food. The tomato base of the beef ragù strikes an ethereal equilibrium between the sweet & sour tastes inherent in all tomatoes, and the minced beef is present in sufficient strength to impose its beefy saltiness upon the entirety of this cheesy, majestically melty mess.⠀ ⠀ The perfectly chewy & supple sheets of pasta sandwich each layer of bewitching beef ragù and dollops of ricotta and repeat itself in a scrumptious symphony. But not if you’re @wineconnectionsg! Yes, ludicrous lunch sets with a little vino to get you through the afternoon for a little over twenty bucks are the reality at Wine Connection’s bistro! This piquant pizza pie has quite the intimidating girth, but it’s not even slightly surfeiting thanks to that tremendously thin crust. It’s almost uniformly crisp throughout, and it’s light enough to be a fuss free tenant in your tummy. While I would’ve appreciated more sauce on the pizza, I fully understand the decision to keep it light, as any more of the scintillating sauce might’ve tilted the scales and made it overkill.⠀ ⠀ The burrata is sliced into delectable discs and really makes this pizza a perfect pie with its creamy, gooey chewiness & stringiness, and the meaty, salty slap from the palatable prosciutto strips which Wine Connection is rather generous with. It hits every possible flavour combo possible on your palate, plus it’s a cheesy, carb loaded disc of delectable deliciousness. What’s not to like?⠀ ⠀ For this peerless pizza, a sterling salad, and a glass of majestic merlot to cost me less than twenty five dollars?
