Tried Peruvian cuisine for the first time today! The ceviche was interesting and very appetising. It tastes Mexican because of the corn tortilla used. The fish was Super fresh and the dressing was really zesty and refreshing. The best thing we ate was the Plancha de mariscos!! It’s essentially grilled vegetables and seafood with a Super delicious sauce and crispy quinoa! I’ve never had anything like it but it was so good! The paella was pretty forgettable though. Pulpo “Al Olivo”($28) The slices of octopus were cooked very gently, and was a vessel for the flavours that came through via the black olive mayo, chimichurri, garlic crisps & what I think are wisps of fried sweet potato. Was decent but would have preferred the octopus to have some char / smoky flavours.

Cheeky Git ($21.90) Really fork tender beef along with a wonderful bed of buttery mash potato. My only gripe with this dish is that the asparagus tasted raw!!

Surprisingly Good English-inspired Cafe! Had a go on the classic Dory fish and chips ($9.90), very affordable! The dory fish was fried really nicely but still kept its flakiness and moisture. What looks like mashed potato was actually a thicker tangy mayo for your fish! If you’re feeling hungry, you can add $3.90 for another piece of dory. Wooooooorth. Ambience was really nice with a lot of for foreigners walking along Haji Lane for the added overseas feeling! Would definitely return and try other dish with Burpple Beyond!

Ridiculous Service and terrible order system We walked in at 1pm into a half-empty restaurant and was told to wait 40 minutes for the food. We were fine with it as it was a Sunday at lunch hour. The system used to order food is through scanning a QR code on the phone, and ordering on the app although there were 3 staff walking around the small store. Super troublesome, but nevermind. Waited 1 hour before we were told that our food order did not go through the system even though we ordered a latte and received it 20 minutes later and it was sent through properly. Requested nicely for the staff to have our order bumped up and be verbally conveyed to the kitchen. No, it has to go through the app and we will have to wait an additional 30 minutes for the order. Don’t come here unless you want to waste your time over mediocre food and terrible service. Burrple isn’t even worth it.

Why Be Skeezy When You Can Be Cheesy Yes, this here lobster mac&cheese costs $35++, but there’s a reason why the premium is worth it. It’s the best motherhuggin’ mac&cheese in Singapore, and I can back that up. First of all, just look at it. Look, look, look! There’s an entire French village’s annual supply of cheese in there! All that cheese is brilliantly broiled till it’s all melted and charred & absolute perfection, and below that blanket of cheese is where the macaroni sits. Lemme tell ya this from experience: that blanket of cheese is the best damn #cheesepull picture you will EVER take, and it’s even more delectable when it’s making savoury, saucy love to your tongue. The macaroni positively DROWNED in a majestically moreish mornay sauce, and I went in on that cast iron pan with a spoon to make sure no drop got left behind. The lobster was admittedly lost in the cheesy chaos, but when you bit into it, you’d know for sure. It was fantastically firm and spectacularly supple, all the expected hallmarks of a fabulously fresh lobster. If you’re tired of getting mac&cheese that’s got less cheese than one of my drunk af bar pickup lines, go to 665F for a thorough vibe check.
