PLANCHA DE MARISCOS Mixed seafood, vegetables 鈥渁 la plancha鈥, red quinoa huancaina sauce This dish blew us away! Ordered this amongst the many selections of fish & meat for the boyfriend who鈥檚 a seafood lover but it turns out to be a great choice for myself too! Hidden beneath the barbecued prawns (my, the charcoal fragrance from the prawns and squids were so so so promonient - thereby taking up this 鈥済rilled鈥 prawn to the next level. How often d鈥檡ou have grilled prawns truly 鈥済rilled鈥? I鈥檇 say many times I can鈥檛 quite differentiate them from the taste of stir-fried prawns! The dish is layered w plenty of grilled vegetables too, with eggplants and capsicums!! They鈥檙e slathered generously with some secret sauce - the name says huancaina (didn鈥檛 Google what that is) - and plenty of quinoa!! A rather interesting mix which proved to be an incredibly smart pairing - the crunch from the quinoa brings an added layer of texture to each bite of the veggie/ seafood!

ARROZ con MARISCOS 鈥淪pecial鈥 seafood rice which is indeed special in its own way - made with somewhat longer-than-usual grains and infused with rich, RICH seafood. It鈥檚 served with an incredible serving of prawns, clams and squids 馃 Resembling a paella, but perhaps a lil鈥 more 鈥渕ushy鈥 in presentation. Really love the consistency and richly flavoured bites! 鈥楽erving might be a lil鈥 small for big eaters tho!

Peruvian 鈥淧aella鈥 $36 Bomba rice, fish, clams, pork sausage, Aji Amarillo butter. Personally think Tono does its 鈥減aella鈥 better than sister restaurant Ola. Fresh fish and butter brings out the flavour of the clam well. - Taste: 4/5 #burpple #burpplesg

For 1-for-1 Main Dish (save ~$25) Turn to this restaurant along Bussorah Street for a Turkish feast with the gang! To start, go for the Saksuka ($8), consisting of eggplant, paprika and red tomato sauce lightly seasoned with herbs. For mains, the community can't stop raving about the Patlican Musakka ($24) 鈥 think lamb, eggplant, potato, green pepper, tomato and cheese 鈥 a super rich dish not to miss out on. Testi Kebab ($29 for 1, $48 for 2) Slow-cooked in a sealed claypot, the testi kebab here comes with lamb cubes, potato, onions, eggplant, and tomatoes. The theaterical aspect of this dish is really interesting because the claypot is broken once the fire dies off. It was done carefully so as to prevent the bits of claypot from getting into our food. It's rather wasteful that they can't re-use the claypot, but oh wells. The lamb was really tender as expected with sweet sourish sauce. The taste was kinda similar to patlican musakka without cheese, which is something I enjoy but maybe not when served one after another.

Patlican Musakka ($24) [or $15 via the Communal Dining at Kampong Glam App or FB Messenger] Lamb stew with eggplants and potato and topped with cheese, before getting baked in a claypot. Love how tender and smell-free the lamb was, and didn't know that it would go really well with tomato paste. It feels like eating lasagna without the lasagna sheets! The eggplant and potato added some healthy touch to the dish although I still dipped them in more cheese and tomato paste!

Mixed Kebab Platter ($49.90++ for 2 Pax) Must say that this has been one of the better (if not best) kebab platters I鈥檝e tried in Singapore?? 馃槏馃槏 Meat was far from dry and very very tasty, albeit a little too salty towards the end of the meal. Loved the generous portions and great variety of 5 different kebabs (chicken, beef, lamb chops), all of which were done fantastically (yes even the chicken). Bonus of salad at the side was refreshing and a blanket of Arabic rice was really really flavourful and helped to balance out the meal. Lovely attentive service with water provided and nice outdoor al fresco ambience, definitely do give this platter a try! (Especially since it鈥檚 available on eatigo 50% as well!) 馃憤馃徎馃憤馃徎

Mezze Platter ($25.90++) Served cold with two slices of pita bread, this was quite a nice starter with 5 different mezze - Hummus, Mutabbal, Babaganush, warq Anab and Fattoush salad. However, dips were average and nothing spectacular in its flavour profile so not quite sure if it鈥檚 worth this price tag (even with eatigo鈥檚 50% off). Great service with nice al fresco Aladdin vibes, but prefer my pita bread thick and fluffy rather than thin and flat 馃ズ馃ズ All in all, interesting place to try, but can definitely find better hummus and other dips elsewhere!

Mixed Kebab Platter ($49.90/2 Pax, $74.90/3 Pax, $93.90/4 Pax) We struggled to finish the mixed platter of 4 different kebabs and lamb chops. While the minced chicken and lamb kebabs that were marinated with Arabic spices and chili had a good chewy texture, the cubed versions were a tad too dry, gamey and hard for chewing that we eventually gave up eating. The lamb chops were succulent, and excellently executed especially with the earthiness from cumin in the rub. Pair the meats with the subtly spiced Arabic rice for a balanced overall taste. Fortunately there was a salad and their special sauce made from peppermint, somewhat like a mint chutney, to neutralize the strong meatiness.
