I decided to expand my search to the best food in the Asian region and no better way to start it off with the well-renown ginseng chicken soup in #Seoul.
Tosokchon Samgyetang boasts long lines for its famous ginseng chicken soup (from â‚©16,000 or S$18.90) but do not be intimidated as the restaurant is large with a high turnover rate so the queue moves by pretty quickly.
The Korean chicken (tojongdak) was extremely tender and the meat falls off the bone with minimal effort. Steaming off in a hot broth of ginseng, chestnut, jujube, garlic, ginger, adlay, perilla seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, nuts, pine nuts and black seeds, though it makes a very complex taste, the overall experience is subtle but calming and soothing.
It's a wonderful dish to have during the winter and early spring.
