Chocoholics, this is for you. Especially if you love your chocolate with espresso. This Affogato costs $14.90 and screams CACAO!!!! at every bite. From the decadent brownies to the creamy gooey chocolate ice cream. It was gone in a little under 5 minutes. Yes, it was that delish!
Having watched all 3 installations of the evergreen movie "The Godfather", Part III left an impression to me. One of the characters was crazy about Cannoli so I always wondered what it probably tasted like. OMG, it is so yummy. The crunchy pastry really complimented the ricotta filling with decadent pistachios. It was almost finger sized so 2 definitely werent sufficient 🤕 I ordered this as part of the dessert platter ($19). Besides these 2, there were also other sweets like Tiramisu and some unidentifiable Italian sweets. It goes for $3 a pop individually.
Say, cheeeese! This is a local brand using imported Taiwanese tea leaves. Pictured pretty is Sijichun Tea + Cheese, $4.90. Now, this is a "die die must try"! Was here pretty early and there wasn't any queue. Their fresh milk teas were not ready yet so I got myself 3 different types of cheese teas *0% sugar preference*. Having been on a cheese tea hunt the past week, I was stoked by the flavour profile of their cheese topping. Not being too fond of very sweet stuff, I was delighted that the cheese was more savoury salty than sweet. The tea itself was robust and pretty surprised that it was first put in a blender, poured into a tea shaker full of ice, and then poured into the cup and topped with the "fluffy cloud" i.e. cheese. Also, I totally dig the takeaway paperbag. Yoohoo time to partea..
The Vanilla ice cream ($4.50) was legit with its dreamy vanilla notes. However, IMO it was a tad too sweet for my guilt ridden sweet-o-meter. The Bittersweet symphony ($6) is always a hit for me, who can resist chocolate with a robust espresso crema-ed concoction? Sluuuuuurp ❤
The sourdough toast with sage cream cheese and berry compote ($4) was ok, nothing spectacular. The latte ($5) was yums. I probably will come back again for it. They had many bakes, both sweet and savouries up for grabs. Prepare to queue and wait. Was there on saturday 9am and the queue was long.
These tarts (plain $3.50, matcha & chocolate flavours $3.80 each) in my opinion, were unfortunately cloyingly sweet. Just 1 bite of each flavour and I don't feel like finishing them.
Was famished and wasn't about to settle for a greasy breakfast at the hawker centre. This stall (Perdana Muslim) which was a couple stalls away from Uggli Muffins, served Seafood Hor Fun ($4) at 9.30am! It was prepared fresh and I stood by enthusiastically seeing how my breakfast was made. Verdict: Super shiok!
At $3.90 it was a good price given the richness of the soft serve. As for the taste, I couldnt trace neither the cheese nor the matcha. It was just....milky and creamy. The cone was actually quite delicious and crispy. At 10.15am Friday morning, there were no queue and no crowd.
Located near the taxi stand at 313 @ Somerset, this is the latest place dishing out cheese teas. Today I tried their Sakura Oolong Cheese Tea ($4.20) and their Peach Oolong fruit tea ($4.50). Both were equally good and the latter was super refreshing. The cheese tea exceeded my expectations too. The sweet-salty-creamy cheese definitely satisfied my "cheese tea hunting streak" tastebuds. 🤣 Definitely returning to try other combinations as they have a lot of other tea type options up for grabs.
Fancy some chocolate with your matcha? Then try this unique drink ($6, iced). It has a shot of matcha, chocolate honey and fresh milk. This cafe is situated in the folds of many other places offering lattes and joes so the consumer is indeed spoilt for choice. They also have a $3 special price for certain coffees early in the morning.
This drink ($4.80, iced) had a very acquired taste and it took me a couple of sips before actually appreciating it. It has a roasty, toasty & smokey taste to it but unbelievably refreshing. I tried it with no sugar added. Oishiiiiii ❤
At $8.90, with its huge size and generous fillings of cheese, avocado, lots of greens, pickled cucumbers and peppers, this was great value for your hard earned dough! IMO at least 😁. Yes, seriously just the other day I paid $8 for a small size of sourdough bread with paltry garnishings on top. Anyway, that aside, it was a pretty good ambience to have breakfast there in the morning with no crowd.
