Oxtail Pie ($25) Saw Fiona's review and knew what to order instantly! In theory, it's considerably easy to make (especially since this is crustless): braise oxtails till fork tender, pull and then top with mashed potatoes. But to make it exceptionally good? You know they went the extra mile. The red wine braised ragout was flavour-packed, while the velvety garlic mashed potato was neither dry nor too greasy. Super comforting! Pro tip: Swing by during lunch and opt for the lunch set (this is one of the options for main). For the same price ($25), you get a main + an appetiser + a scoop of ice cream.

Baby Gem Salad ($12) Unassuming but satisfying mix of fennel, radish, shallots, cherry tomato and cucumber. The well-emulsified lemon vinaigrette deserves a shout-out!

For Oven-Baked Fare and Great Views One of the five featured Alley on 25 dining concepts at the Andaz Singapore Hotel by Hyatt, The Green Oven serves hearty dishes, all cooked using their giant, statement green Beech oven (hence the name). The food here is great for sharing — think Braised Lamb Shank ($35) and Mac & Cheese ($35) with lobster and morel mushrooms — so file this aside for the next family lunch, or upcoming festive group gatherings. The gorgeous views of the city skyline add a touch of opulence. Topped with buttery garlic mash and sporting a golden brown hue from its time in the oven, the Oxtail Pie ($25) is super comforting. Burpple Tastemaker Fiona Ting appreciated that the dish was served piping hot — great if you like to take your time savouring your meal. The dinner-only Sustainable Seafood Stew ($68) may be pricey, but it is the one dish Fiona declares she'd gladly return for. The stew is filled together with seafood of all sorts, including jumbo lump crab, Boston lobster, black mussels, seabass, scallops and squid. The tomato bouillabaisse seafood broth is absolutely rich in flavour, and great for soaking up with the sourdough they serve with the dish. Pro tip: Their $25 set lunch, which gets you a main, an appetiser and a scoop of ice cream, is great value. The dinner menu, however, is more extensive. Avg Price: $40 per person Photo by Burpple Tastemaker Fiona Ting

Oysters & Ribs Dinner Buffet The experience at Alley on 25 for a buffet dinner on a Friday night was a little confusing because of the different islands of food counters located at various parts of the dining area, but the food was decently affordable given the price point of S$49.00 per person. If you were like me, who would typically skip the salad bar (featuring some superfoods there), go straight to the fresh seafood and grab some Fine de Claire Oysters with lemon wedges and be awed by their freshness. Among all the food options here, the next most impressionable section would be their desserts, with a self-service soft serve machine with lots of chocolate decorations available, and I also somehow liked how they did their bread pudding. Not forgetting the far end of the restaurant where the grilled meats were found. I enjoyed having their sausages and the slow-cooked Sticky Pork Ribs, but thought that their Australian Angus Beef Short Ribs were sliced too thinly for my liking, as they also tasted a little dry. Additional fees would apply (from S$40 onwards) if you would like some alcoholic beverages to go with the dinner, and if coffee or tea were something that you tend to order during a hotel buffet dinner, they do not serve them as complimentary.

Possessed the amorous smokiness of a mysterious gentleman's club cigar lounge dalliance, with the spices at play making the proceedings bewitchingly addictive. 4/5 This was a hosted meal, courtesy of Alley on 25.
