There are many avocado stores in Alexandra Village due to the popularity of the Avocado Juice here. However one of my favourite stalls would be this Mr Avocado Exotic Fruit Juice. Thick, creamy and not too diluted, it comes with a sweet Gula Melaka taste and does not have that artificialness that some other stalls have.
$3 for a cup of small which is more than enough to satiate my thirst on a hot day!
The bingsu at O’ma Spoon isn’t as good as I remembered it to be as compared to the past, or perhaps it was because I got the mango previously. The strawberries are slightly sour, and the whipped cream is too sweet and does not go well with the bingsu. However, the ice is still light and fluffy which is great and we managed to get matcha ice cream instead of vanilla as well.
$15.90 a bowl is slightly pricey though for a bowl of ice and fruits
Recently I’ve started liking avocado and I’ve finally found my favourite avocado milkshake in Singapore!
The milkshake is nice and fruity with a strong coconut taste. I like adding on coconut flesh to give a little chew to the drink.
Hands down the best avocado coconut milkshake I’ve had!
Chir Chir was having a 50% off this week so we immediately decided to go down and try! This rose cheese chirqueen is chicken tenders topped with a generous helping of cream sauce and cheese. I loved how it was served on a hot plate so the cheese is always hot and gooey and wouldn’t get cold. The cheese is slightly spicy to give it a little kick however it was slightly too mild for my tastes.
The 50% was super worth it though! We had five people and ordered this and the garlic chicken, and were super full afterwards though we only spent $7 each per person??
$32.90 but serves 2-3
Mac and Cheese is definitely one of my favourite guilty pleasures. The Mac and Cheese served by French Garçon at the food court at Block 22 of Ngee Ann Poly is served fresh to you in a cute little takeout box and is everything a Mac n Cheese needs, thick, gooey and full of melted cheese. You get to choose your own toppings and flavours, and the pasta is nice and chewy. Definitely will come again to try some of their more unique flavours next time!
Price - ~$5.20 a box
Came here for breakfast today. The coffeehouse is always crowded so it’s best to book a table beforehand. The salmon was great, and the slightly tangy taste of the yogurt was a nice topping and contrast to the saltiness of the salmon. The noodles are nice and light and goes great with the crunchy seasoning that topped the egg. Overall really great and can’t wait to come back to try the other dishes!
The KARA Se’abura ramen is a spicy ramen where you get to choose from a base of salt, shoya, and squid ink and it will be topped with a generous helping of chilli oil. I chose salt as my base. The broth was thick and flavourful however it starts to feel slightly greasy after awhile due to the oil. The noodles are springy and chewy and the meat helping is pretty generous with a thick and tender piece of char siew as compared to some other ramen shops where they give you really thin slices.
All in all for $14 this ramen tasted really authentic and good (the cooks are all Japanese too which could be a testament to its authenticity) however it’s not for those who prefer a plainer taste and dislike oily ramen. Would definitely come back to eat again but perhaps I’ll try a different broth the next time.
$14
The Angel Hair Pasta at Saveur has always been my favourite dish and our family makes sure that we always order at least one to share whenever we come here. The pasta is flavourful yet light on your palette, perfect as an appetiser or main. However one thing I’ve noticed is that the pasta has been getting drier as compared to the first few times we’ve ate it and the prices have been going up. One good thing is that it now comes as a main dish instead of only being sold as an appetiser, with a bigger serving size to satisfy our cravings
Price - $18
Served with a generous helping of the beef which spills out when you take a bite. The meat is flavourful and juicy and the greens provide a contrast with a refreshing tangy taste.
However, the price may be slightly expensive given the relatively small serving.
