Wok hei vermicelli with prawns Food: Not sure if the above is the exact name of the food but it shouldn’t be too far off. It lacks of the wok hei and prawns and mushroom were bland while the vermicelli was really salty. I couldn’t finish it. We also ordered the chicken boat noodle, the version that came with the chicken claw and it was also really salty. Felt extremely thirsty after eating our lunch. Cleanliness: Both tables have droplets of Tom yum soup when we sat down. Wonder if they even cleaned the tables after diners left. Service: 0. Staff like to back face u so that u won’t call for them. When they walk, they will pretend not to see u even if u wave at them. However the chef inside was the only one who was very attentive and called out to 2 different staffs on 2 separate occasions when we needed their attention. When asked about the Burpple promotion, the boy wasn’t exactly sure of what’s included or excluded and didn’t reply in a friendly manner. When asked further, he then decided to check on it. Training could have been provided to all staff working there. We also requested for chilli but the lady staff only brought a tray with peanut, Chilli flakes and cut chilli. However, I did notice that there were also other chilli but wasn’t brought to us. Asked for saucer and she insisted there was saucer inside the utensils holder but no, there isn’t. Also, they didn’t even replenish the chopsticks inside as there was only a pair. Could be used by a previous single diner. Atmosphere: Nothing unique, small and relatively warm. Overall experience: Negative, can give it a miss.

Thai Chicken Cashew Nuts ($8.90) Taste wise, pretty good - sweet and savoury, not spicy at all. For $8.90, I do wish there were a bit more chicken. Fortunately we used the Burpple 1-for-1 deal so this was a bit more reasonably priced after the discount. This restaurant remains as one of my go-to places to redeem Burpple Beyond deals, as it is pretty worth it in terms of quantity and quality. Service was friendly too.

Stir-fried Beef Phad Thai ($9.90) Phad Thai was not too bad, though not as tasty as their vermicelli in my opinion. For some reason the phad thai was rather healthy(?) tasting and didn’t have that tasty kick which we were hoping to get. It was still not too bad for a dinner dish and was quite substantial. This restaurant is one of my go-to places to redeem Burpple Beyond deals, as I find it worth it in terms of price, amount and taste. If you dine in just note that there’ll be GST and service charge.

Mao Shan Wang Mousse with Biscoff Coming here could be not easy for those taking public transport, as you still need to walk for a distance to reach here. And the shop is facing the main road of Woodlands Avenue 12, so might difficult to locate the shop if you come from the back of the building. Beside continuing their durian business at this premise, there’s also tables and chairs for people who come here for dessert. Their Mao Shan Wang Mousse definitely worth getting, which taste very thick; comes with a piece of the pulp. Recommends to add the biscoff to it and add some cripsy bites. Enjoy your Burpple Beyond here with one for one dessert like this together with a drink.

Fish & Vegetable Porridge This porridge shop sells, in my opinion, sells the best porridge in Tiong Bahru area. Smooth and creamy porridge with very fresh ingredients. Love the fact that I can add vegetable to the porridge. It adds in another level of taste. Warning - porridge can be sold out as early as 9am especially on weekends.

Carrot Cake / Chye Tow Kueh (SGD $5) @ Song Han Carrot Cake. Reowned for their unique flavour of carrot cake, made using curry powder, sweetened chye poh / preserved radish, and deshelled shrimp. . This gives each plate a unique layering of taste, yet it doesn't distract from the soft moist taste of the carrot cakd itself. . The white version is my preference here, smoky savoury spicy eggy sweet in flavour, the notes of curry and egg amd shrimp quite distinct. . The black version is also well loved, smoky sweet spicy eggy savoury in flavour. Here, the curry is tamed with the dark sweet soy sauce, though you still get the taste of the egg and shrimp.
